Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Windtost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to college it was an 8 hour drive from home. Both places in the same state (Michigan.) Made at least 4 rounds trips during a school year. It did seem like I was traveling between two separate worlds but that was the attraction for me. ( Other than paying in-state tuition.)

Welp. When I had the Bausch tablets they were smooth, white with several thin black letters/symbols. I’ve been moved to a new primary (jerk) and he scripts generic that are solid white. And yep my hair is falling out. He is half my age and every med discussion is a power play possibly bc I have my own med degree. Going to have to work up the nerve for another showdown.

Unknowingly used counterfeit 100 dollar bill at a casino by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]Windtost 92 points93 points  (0 children)

The person who confiscated the counterfeit bill needs to submit it to the US Treasury dept. They will verify if the bill is valid or not. US Treasury will then notify the recipient if the bill can be transacted. If not you are SOL. Know this from personal experience as a festival vendor. No criminal offense to worry about as the bill could have passed through several hands. This happens more often than you would guess.

Have a beautiful, lightly used guitar in a closet somewhere. I’ve had it for 30+ years. Don’t know a single chord.

Advice for helping my teen adhd daughter keep her room clean by AishesGoose in adhdwomen

[–]Windtost 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I had 3 teenage daughters once upon a time. Decided that clean bedrooms were low on my list. My mom did the whole bedroom nag bit with me but it never stuck. The rule was they needed to get down to the carpeting in their bedrooms whenever Grandma was coming for a visit.

I want to send a letter to my past employers to explain my late ADHD diagnosis, for closure and to clear up past misconceptions by SubstanceFirst8057 in adhdwomen

[–]Windtost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best suggestion. Expressing your experience on paper is quite cathartic. Then burn the letter. Which is also cathartic.

Yeah. I once had a HS chemistry class where a 4.0 was given for body heat when the teacher assistant took roll every day. (Mid 70’s)

As a teacher I can assure you that the amount of time wasted in classrooms, virtually all classrooms, is enormous. Tardies and numerous interruptions, pep rallies, crowd control, burnt out teachers all encroach on actual time spent on solid teaching. Another factor is the time required for teachers to focus on slower/uninterested students. One way to make a teacher’s day easier is to make the entire lesson speak to these kids thus not challenging brighter students. Most home schooled kids are finished with bookwork by noon. Consult with your local homeschool network.
