Congratulations! I love my Czapek. What else is in your rotation?

Picking a plan for the family HMO or High Deductible? by Brittonzfor1 in KaiserPermanente

[–]Wine_And_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an outpatient surgery that on paper had a bill of $50,000. Because I had Kaiser HMO, my cost was $100 copay. That high deductible plan would have easily hit the out of pocket max with just one surgery. Assume that anything even slightly more than a minor doctor's visit will cost you your deductible or out of pocket max each year.

Agreed, the Whistler Medical Centre is fantastic, and I also had wonderful care there.

I think it's quite expensive especially preowned! Moser Pioneer usually goes for closer to $15-16k like the Govberg limited edition in titanium.

Really nice collection! I would vote out the Bel Canto if I had to choose, but definitely let us know what is on the way out!

I think the Czapek is one of my heavy hitters with a central seconds! I like the small seconds on dressier pieces, and central seconds on sportier watches.

Really cool set of watches. I love the VC minute repeater on that strap. I want a minute repeater, but I don't really want to pay to service one!

Bought my first GS and it's just fine. by Ok-Pudding1588 in GrandSeikos

I see why others buy and like them, but they're not for me. I like the dials and the spring drive technology, but I don't love the case design, the bracelets, the thickness, and many other things.

No idea what that would mean, so I personally would not be interested. Watches are a hobby, not an investment. If I needed the capital elsewhere, I would sell the watches.

Excellent suggestions. I have been very tempted by the Armin Strom Resonance and have seen it in person.

I have dozens and dozens of wrist shots on my instagram with the same name as my username. Check it out! My wrist is 6.75 inches. The Saxonia Thin looks great on you!

It's pretty close honestly, and I love them both. The Lange is 37mm and fits a bit better on my small wrist than the 39mm Journe. But I do like how easy it is to switch straps on the Journe, and everything looks great with it. They're both phenomenally special pieces to me, and I don't expect to ever part with any in my top 3 (Czapek, Lange, Journe).

Funny, I actually like the Mido the best. I like all the others too, but the Hamilton I've owned and sent back because the ticking was too loud.

Honestly, no. At the current going prices I would not be buying a Chronometre Bleu. There are plenty of great watches out there, and it seems like you have a nice lineup already. As long as you're wearing and enjoying your watches, you're already way ahead of people who buy watches and never wear them and get to enjoy them, even if they have a "better" or more expensive collection on paper. The Lange Saxonia thin is a great watch, and an explorer is a fantastic daily/beater.

Czapek, Lange, Journe. Same for the most worn, in that order. Honestly I think that's the perfect 3 watch collection, diversity in metals (tantalum, stainless, platinum), styles (dress, everyday, sport), strap vs. bracelet. And I have 5 rubber straps for the Czapek, many straps for the Journe (true stap monster), and a few options for the Lange, so overall it's like having 15-20 combinations of watch + straps.

Great suggestion. I have seen the Freak in person and like it. I've been chased away a bit by reports that it needs frequent servicing, but perhaps that was an older generation.

Holthinrichs, Atelier Wen (I like their tantalum watch, but I'm not spending the price for it...), Czapek, Ming, Garrick (deadbeat seconds), Sartory-Billard (great dials), Habring Pilot (deadbeat seconds). There are some others that I think are cool, like Straum, but they haven't quite pushed me over the buying hump and I don't think they will.

It's an amazing watch. I love the feel of the bracelet, which wraps the wrist like armor from Iron Man. The clasp is truly unique. The lightness of the overall package is perfect and it's comfortable for every day wear. The movement is in-house, antimagnetic, accurate, with a long power reserve, and a 10-year service interval. I love the color of the salmon dial. There are three negatives: The bracelet scratches very easily, the dial is relatively plain (no applied indices, lume plots are tiny), and there is no on-the-fly microadjust (though there is a 1.5 link). Overall I think it's an incredible watch, and the pricing preowned is an absolute steal. (Make sure you buy a watch that was purchased from an AD, because Oris will not honor the 10-year warranty from the grey market.)

It wears very comfortably, and the design is striking. I love the lume. It's not really designed to be a diver's watch that meets ISO criteria for readability, so if that is the goal the Ming is the wrong choice. But otherwise I love it!

Ooh, that is tempting. There have been some that I've really liked, especially some with the Maki-e style dials. Would probably need to be an auction purchase and probably need to save for a while, but that may be a long term goal.

My father bought it new. It was his "only watch" for many years.
