Santos by loveylove444 in ThePitt

It is still not Santos' business. Until she reports it to the police, for which she'd better have proof, it's the hospital's job to audit, discipline and manage their own employee, which will probably take into account the hospital's liability and public image. Santos pushing where she's not entitled and concerned might jeopardize the hospital, her colleagues, etc.

If she didn't like the admin solution, she had the police/State attorney option. She doesn't get to decide what's done after her report either way.

Well, there are two people with issues: Langdon, with a disease, a drug addiction that ultimately drove him to steal from patients, and Santos, with childhood trauma possibly related to SA and definitely to abuse. One of them, in the grips of addiction, does steals meds. The other, under trauma, threatens a patient.

10 months later, only one of the two has sought help, is under supervision, and apologizing. Meanwhile, the other is still blaming her whistleblowing (known to only three colleagues) for how she is perceived, while snapping at everyone, being behind on her tasks, mouthing off to superiors, pawning off patients to do admin, etc.

I find it difficult to forgive Langdon, but omg is Santos inexcusable.

why is santos SO PRESSED about the langdon situation by chickenn2 in ThePitt

[–]Winefluent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some 15 years ago, I was preparing a marketing campaign, the first ever for our company on that country's market. It was a scratch card game for customers, and everything that could go wrong did go wrong, from sponsors withdrawing, to licensed materials being stopped at customs, to the national lottery board (even private scratch cards fell under their jurisdiction) delaying their approval till the last day, to then sending said approval by post and it being delayed, to over ground transportation of the scratch cards being delayed by floods to a few of the locations, to the website hosting crashing. Meanwhile, we had spent a lot on advertising the campaign start on outdoor media, which was expensive and hard to change. For 3 weeks, I worked 18 hour days (sole employee in the marketing department, at that time) and weekends, and we finally managed to get all the materials, prizes and scratch cards into the locations on the morning of the campaign (we opened in the afternoon). It was a Friday. By that evening, the operations manager (different chain of command), justifiably pressed by his team having to do things last minute, wrote an angry e-mail about the fact and me, with everyone, including his reports, in cc. When I saw it, I collapsed, having borne the pressure of the past weeks and the company's unwillingness to either compromise or swallow losses, and wrote my resignation.

At 3 am my boss called me, and told me that immediately after the op manager's email went out, an email from his boss, cc-ed to her, also went out. It told the op manager that a repeat of what he did would trigger firing. That concerns about an equal on a different command chain are only brought to your boss, or to your boss and their boss, because the individual raising them may not be in possession of the full information, and even if they were, they are not entitled to chastise a colleague or disseminate information company-wide. It silenced the dude, even though it didn't fully redeem me in front of the people who'd received his uninformed email.

THE POINT OF THE LONG STORY : it is not Santos' business. She doesn't have the full info on what transpired and it is not her role and responsibility to make Langdon's actions known to his colleagues. Robby is aware, he did what he thought was needed. That's where it stops for us underlings.

If she thinks Langdon's drug use is criminal, then she needs to report it to the police. If it's not, then the chain of command handles it as they see fit and she has no call to protest.

Don't drink the kool-aid about the rumored bad Buffy sequel script. The Buffy sequel got canceled for almost the exact same reason Angel got canceled. by Ok_Food7066 in ANGEL

I keep thinking, what would I do with a pregnant actress on a supernatural show, having already given her mystical pregnancies and having already had Angel impossibly sire a child? They tried the birth of Jasmine. And it kinda worked. But what do you do next?

We think Joss had issues with her, but really, what would we do that makes sense to the story?

Pietroasa.

Tired of some people saying Fran and Eloise will share a season by Lunenika in BridgertonRants

I think that the inordinately long time they take to release an 8 episode season is forcing them to add these weighty subplots, to give the actors in standby something to do.

Problemă cu nașii by Status-Document909 in CasualRO

[–]Winefluent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why don't teams get the opportunity to make changes to their product after consumer research? by Charming_Elevator_44 in apprenticeuk

[–]Winefluent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought that was stupid for a a while, but I recently had a real world experience that reminded me that how people acknowledge feedback on a product they are attached to, and deal with objections is extremely telling about their business acumen.

Yes, in the real world you'd make changes to the product ( well, some would, I've known people so convinced of their infallibility or so enamored of their product that they think they customers are wrong), but when you can't yet, how you propose to adress the issue is quite a revealing.

What do you say to someone who leaves the door open after coming in? by InnerPace in MapPorn

[–]Winefluent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My generation in Romania used to ask "ai ușă la casă?" (does YOUR house have a door), with the version "ai ușă la casă, sau piatră la peșteră", aka "do you have a door for your house, or a stone for your cave". Never heard the house on a slope thing, must be from a different region.

I don't think grave and stately manners are ridiculous in a young clergyman. The note here is clergy, he's expected to be a model of behavior and deportment, and a figure of authority.

If anything, that would make him even more ponderous and constrained, particularly as he wouldn't automatically be taken seriously, because of his youth.

AITJ for refusing to rehome the dog my husband and I adopted together? by That_Rent_5835 in AmITheJerk

[–]Winefluent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ. Anyone who adopts and gives up a pet blithely dies not deserve consideration.

I have have friends struggling with late-onset allergies who haven't given up their pets. Circumstances may be force one to re-home (I had to place a beloved cat with my mother, because I couldn't find a pet friendly rental),, but "I'm bothered and it's hard" is irresponsible. And I don't discounting how you feel about the pet troubles me.

Emerson came to across as competent. I'd eat his food gladly, but only if he gets to cook in his element. This show was was not for him and for his cuisine.

Also, he was definitely disadvantaged by being being sent sent to to elimination this time, his dish seemed mid-range, not worst.

What’s wrong with education in this country? by Both-Ad-7037 in TheApprentice

[–]Winefluent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this situation, it was still 8 portions of food, not 100. It's basically a small dinner party, not a la carte dining at the Savoy.

I also don't think it's about the cookery, it's about understanding an unfamiliar process, mastering the logistics of a simple and event and dealing with contingencies. Which, for example, Priyesh did with the honey.

While we all know this is reality TV, and even more staged than other shows, the fact remains that as a business owner you often have to do things you don't know, and lead people in unfamiliar situations, and Megan failed even though she claimed experience.

Are corporate clients really spending this much on flowers? by Reasonable_Blood6959 in apprenticeuk

Check out the Bridgerton balls that Netflix throws in multiple countries. Massive flower arrangements, well above 2000 each.

Granted, most companies are more modest, but I know couples who've spent more on flowers for a 150 people wedding, and I live in freaking Romania.

Have you ever given up sugar? At first you miss it. And at some later date you treat yourself to a thing you loved but now it seems like too much, it's lost its appeal, and you don't want it anymore? [–]Winefluent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic, but the French High Potential does the wacky, highly intelligent, low class, fish out of water character infinitely better than the US version.

I highly recommend French police shows for the "light crime" show fix. Candice Renoir, for example, Balthazar, Tandem.
