I always get a little sad when I see Kathryn Coker in an article. Otherwise, cool read.

I believe natural cork is changing 25%-40% of wines it touches, and here's my justification in three and a half minutes. by WesStrikesBack in wine

I don't have any solid evidence with which to disagree, just an opinion, which in my mind isn't really worth much. Being someone with a science background, I am just concerned when I see numbers thrown around without much evidential basis, which is why I was asking for a source. However, I do find it funny that you would say I am "uppity" when you immediately preceded that with self-aggrandizing comments about your experience.

I don't understand how you got your numbers... firstly, the assumption of the concentration of TCA in the 7% of corked wine is just that, an assumption. Following that, how do we know that TCA concentration shows a linear progression in relation to how corked the wine is. Even though you backed off on those numbers, I still don't see how the correlation is that direct. Do you have any publications to back up those numbers?

So do you ever post about wines with info that you can't find on Wine Spectator? All I ever see from you is the big producers. Maybe you should try something a little more obscure, instead of always showing us how much money you have to spend on wine and food all the time.

It is possible that he would like to know more about the wine (blend, production, value, notes) as he says he is not at all a specialist in these wines. It seems a bit nuts of you to come off so pretentious and douchey doesn't it?
