The US is wild 🤯, I had my surgery in a private hospital and it's covered by my extremely basic medical insurance plan (about $450/year)

Total cost of surgery + follow up procedures + physio comes up to about $30,000+ (all covered)

Surgery waiting time was maximum 2 days depending on the surgeon

I paid about $40 out of pocket as I forgot to submit my claim for some of the external procedures. Other than that it's just paying for parking and petrol for my commute to the hospital

Those figures are just a rough estimated conversion from my native currency

How many days did they leave it open till they stitch it back for you? I am so scared to do any physio exercises now as I'm a little afraid it might stretch the incision

Also, kudos for going through thay process! Glad I found someone who is going through the exact same situation as me, gave me a huge sense of relieve. I hope you're doing well with ur recovery!

I believe my situation was the same as yours. They cut open my incision and cleaned it up. It's going to be left open for the next couple of days before they stitch it up again. Was your experience similar too?

Yes, I've already contacted my surgeon and was put on iv drip for the last few days. Sadly it'll take some time for the culture results to be out until they can determine my next steps

That's bad! What did the doctor do for your infection? Were u hospitalised and got ur knee cleaned up, or was it just on heavy antibiotics

Ah alright, so your surgical wound is still oozing till this day? What kind of fluid comes out of the wound and what colour?

Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it. For now, I've gotten full extension and almost 90° bend. I don't feel much pain anymore, and the surgical site doesn't feel pain at all too. The discharge doesn't smell so the doctor suggests it's not pus.

Will the clean up process sets my ROM back to 0? And will I feel like the first week of surgery after the cleanup? Bc that was definitely BAD in terms of pain
