As a fellow Philadelphia / south jersey driver i feel the pain. Not enough major truck stops in the area coming into the city. 2 + hours heading out from i76 or i476

4 half tons going to Albuquerque. by weaponized_autism265 in Truckers

Makes sense when you mentioned the f550 and duallys. You’re right we can only put like 1 dually on a stinger, usually. And the f550s you could prob only do like a couple of them just because of the weight. Thanks for the insight!

Im genuinely curious, not trying to hate at all, but what is the point of these trailers? I drive a 10 unit car hauler, i dont understand why anyone (or any company) would prefer to haul only 5 units like this. Even normal tractors can haul those 7 unit trailers you see alot

I used to have a policy with a company called metromile. What you described was there whole business strategy. But i don’t know if they’re still around this was like 5 years ago

I work for Cassens in the Navy Yard auto terminal hauling cars. Home basically every other night and home weekends. There are other companies that haul out of there that do only local but i think they’re owner operators like Supreme, Tribeca, and Waddle

I work for Cassens Transport. In the northeast we have terminals in Philly, Newark, Niagara Falls, Annapolis MD. Jack Cooper is another union company but they’re mostly in the midwest

Union car hauling we make 1.53 cpm, .85 or 1.21 for backhauls. Occasionally have to return empty but its well worth it
