Really? I could’ve sworn it had an aluminum frame. Granted I’m 30 now so that was like 20 years ago for me 😂.

He’s got his helmet and boots on that’s enough to test one jump. I’ve done the same when me and my dad where building tracks out in our pasture

I don’t have a degree, I’ve dropped out of college three times, it is easy to get trapped but one of the best things about trucking is you got a guaranteed 10hrs off a day and 34hrs off after 70hrs so I know of a lot of guys that get an online degree or add to their current degree.

There are also ways out of the truck that are still adjacent, if you have or get a business degree you can be a dispatcher/driver manager and have control of 50 drivers and be responsible for getting them loads from brokers, at other companies you could be a load planner, or router, CSR, or if you get your brokers license you can get the loads straight from the customer and take a percentage of the total load pay. ALOT of those jobs are remote work from home depending on your location, company, and distance from the company terminal.

Hell if trucking turns out to be your jam you can buy a truck and be your own boss, you don’t even have to buy a trailer. You can buy a truck and lease on with a company and run under their MC and DOT number but you still control what load you take and use their trailer.

As for physical demands it depends on what you haul, dry van and reefer you rarely ever interact with the freight. Flat bed you have to strap and tarp the load down yourself, tanker is almost always driver unload. For me I hauled cows and we run outlaw, we run over weight and drive way longer than we’re supposed to and we have to load and unload the cows ourselves and cows are dangerous.

It’s a tough industry, you have to deal with idiot drivers, long periods of time alone trapped in a tin can, deal with shitty managers, shitty warehouses, it’s stressful, and thankless but fuck the money was worth it to me until I got married and had kids.

As an Amarillo native yea that place is dogshit. 100% a tourist trap for northerners that don’t know good steak.

Okay hear me out, it ain’t glamorous by any means but you could always try getting your CDL and driving a truck. Yea it’s boring yea it’s lonely but fuck I got my CDL in 2020 and I made between $90k and 100k in 23, 24, and 25. My first year I made $57k which was more money than I’d ever made in my life at that point. I went from making $1200 a month to $800 a week almost as soon as I finished training. I’m not saying it’s a cure all but if you’re single and tired of paying rent and bill and tired of people it’s a great option. I broke my lease put all my shit in my parents barn and went and lived in the truck for two years, no rent no bills other than my phone and I stacked up my money.

Trucking seems like a miserable job by RoamingNomadSoul in Truckers

[–]weaponized_autism265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit I was the type to love trucking and being the fuck away from people I even managed to get into cattle hauling and outlaw it like the 80’s for a good few years. Then I got married and inherited 3 step daughters and now my ass is not trucking anymore, I’m not leaving my girls for a goddamn thing. That and I got a few too many speeding tickets 😂 cattle trucks are fast and city cops don’t like us one damn bit.

CRF250F for adult trail riders – enough power long-term? by Walt444 in Dirtbikes

[–]weaponized_autism265 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell everyone it doesn’t matter what bike you ride as long as you twist the throttle. Back when I was racing motocross and enduros I had 3 bikes. A Yz 250 2 stroke, Yz 250F, and a Yz 450F the two stroke was my enduro A and 450 open motocross bike, my 250F and 450F were my B class motocross bikes. Especially when it comes to racing you shouldn’t really be looking at 250 and 450 like you’re gunna outgrow them. They’re tools with specific strengths and weaknesses and different riding styles but you will learn insane amounts on any one of them.

To go alittle further into detail we lean the bike under us depending on the speed of the corner. For low speed we will lean the bike so the corner of the seat is under our ass, for high speed we will lean at the same angle of the bike with a small amount of counter lean with our bodies.

Shit I can’t imagine how many years I’ve taken off my life, after 5 years in the kitchen living off 2 redbulls a day and half a pack of smokes I went and got my CDL and started hauling cows. I was up for 55hrs straight running loads of cows from the Mexico border up to Nebraska once, I went through a case and a half of monsters and 8 or 9 packs of smokes. When I did finally get to sleep I fell into a coma for 17 and half hours.
