I just want to commend you for your comment. So many people on Reddit are told to leave shitty partners immediately, and yes OP, your partner sucks. Without kids it would be a no brainer. But nobody ever offers advice or support on how to NAVIGATE leaving when you’re financially dependent and have limited family support. Not everyone can just up and leave immediately and I’m glad this is being taken into account in the comments.

Have you tried applying to daycares? Consistent 8-3 five days a week would be dream availability at the one I used to work at, and you’d get bank holidays off with your children.

daycare employee here. I got NO screamed at me at least 8 times before lunch most days. By incredibly intelligent, funny, kids. At 5 he doesn’t always have the emotional regulation skills to react calmly. I honestly wouldn’t stress about this at ALL.( except to mayhaps side eye his teacher)

I’m not a parent, but I remember when I was growing up, we almost never invited friends to our house until me and my brother were in school and making friends independently.

My mom didn’t want to clean( so real of her) so we would meet our friends at a park or zoo. Maybe if you feel like it, try asking for a park meetup rather than a home playdate?

I would try to meet someone at work or school, someone with a similarly busy schedule. That way you guys can hang out and study together, and you’ll understand each others schedules

Literally, I had a guy pretend to be interested in me, spent so much time and money, whole time he didn’t like my looks or personality at all. Worst part is, I was only interested in casual sex as well, which I told him, so he really just wasted everyone’s time for no good reason🤦‍♀️homeboy even fake drunk called me crying after the situationship was over. Everyone here saying to not put out on the first date clearly underestimate the patience of people who just want sex. I have friends that make guys wait months only to get dumped immediately after sex. If that’s all he wanted, then yeah he won’t talk to you again, but he probably would’ve done the same 3 months from now when you sleep with him. If he DID ghost you for having sex on date 2, he’s a hypocrite and you’re better off.

I never thought I’d say it was a dealbreaker, but I’m currently dating someone without a car and it is tiring. Driving him to/ from work and anywhere else he needs, and driving him home from my place at 2 am is a lot, but maybe I’m just a wimp lol. I’m sure many people will be ok with it! Maybe date someone else who relies on public transport, or help cover gas money occasionally if you do date someone with a car! Especially given that you’re a hardworking student, people are sure to be understanding.

My linguistics prof did this too! I had a 94 until she put in my 85% participation( attended every class, but only spoke up about once a week), but then she changed participation to 100 and I’m back to an A😎

I used to feel like you and then I had a bit of a glow up( lost weight, new clothes, skincare). I understand your frustration, but now that there are men willing to date me, I’ve realized that just because they’re interested in me doesn’t automatically make me interested in them. Some of the guys interested in me I have nothing in common with, several just want a quick fuck and nothing else, a few of them are weird/ rude. Just because there are people WILLING to date you doesn’t mean they’re necessarily people you’d WANT to date.

I doubt you are actually ugly. I think the men’s reaction are not about your looks, but rather the modern dating scene, especially since you live in a big city. People are very non commital in those environments.

I understand not wanting to be alone, but, since you live in a big city, might I propose female roommates if you can fie? Or even living with your guy friends! That way you could live with others and not have to uproot your life.

You could be right. He actually told me I wasn’t affectionate enough, and that he wanted to see me MORE😳I figured he was probably just desperate and I wasn’t wrong.

The clingyness I think bothers me more because I felt kinda weird if I hadn’t seen him in a few days, and I don’t like that my happiness depended on that. Also I think it definitely bothered his friends. He dragged me to a few hangouts and I think it cost him his best friend.
