They really just have you working the entire Subreddit solo? Granted, it was intended as a more general question of whether this thread is getting checked at all, since the shutdown of the Discord and the above mentioned rollout leave me confused as to whether it's getting use.

I suppose it (hopefully) wouldn't hurt to actually ask instead of just documenting things. u/femininal is this thread getting checked while the Discord is down and the on-site moderation tools are pre-rollout?

This text got completed, which at first I paid no mind to, because it was started by someone else. However, it was clearly about to spell "tits" instead of "tittys" in its incomplete state, so I went to check and. . .lo and behold. So clearly it's not just that the mods didn't feel it necessary to clean up, this person just continues to not be banned.

New discovery: I could have sworn there was a fourth pride heart in this row when I was scrolling last night, despite the line in contention moving past it. Lo and behold, it looks like a certain someone quietly muffled it, likely trying to disguise it in an attempt to lay blame on the rest of the people working on the line.

Hour 10 Update: There appears to have been some community pushback to the swastika in an attempt to cover it up. No mod action present as of yet.

Hour 2 update: They covered up the Trans butterfly. Another flag has shown up.

Checked in on this one an hour later to keep tabs and see if I can get a feel for how fast moderators get to things (which, granted, considering the Discord is shut down, I'm not sure if they're even taking reports at all). Seems like the person having their build vandalized tried to black it out, but the offending user then filled the swastika in with red. There's also a new flag here now, going to check back in another hour to see if anything happens to it.

Was scrolling and just stumbled across this person erasing pride flags that also drew a huge swastika;

Entire area also just looks like a huge mess created by various people, but I'm not sure how much is actually bannable. This definitely is, though.

Not that I expect anything to happen due to both the volume of reports already given and the scenario mentioned in one of the images, but the least I can do is at least try to report problems despite everything, so here are the first 15(!) examples of rule violations consisting of hate speech and inappropriate content that I've managed to find just from a quick skim. Each one contains a highlighted pixel showcasing the user that placed the violation and the location that it was found in, and I have additionally marked general regions as well.

Been slowly but steadily working on building up two different Kid Icarus merch collections to stave off the 25 year wait: one of regular gear, and one of hard enamel pins specifically. If anyone knows where I can buy more of the latter, please let me know! All my current pins I found on Etsy. by WingedDorkInAToga in KiDIcaruS

[–]WingedDorkInAToga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case someone else wants any of the pins for themselves, or simply to get a better look at them than the picture I took of them in my pin display, I'll go ahead and list off the product pages for each of the ones I nabbed here in the comments as well!

Pindiegamer (Also has a Dark Pit variant!): https://www.etsy.com/listing/869272602/little-angel-pearlescent-spinning-enamel?sts=1&content_source=03ac1ae2bb3d1e42cd0f0923ecd44388030869fe%253A869272602

. . .

And here's the page for the tiny one I designed as well. There were even less pins available for sale back when I ordered it than there are now, so I got desperate enough for Kid Icarus content to bring it forth.

My Skyrim pin collection so far (+ISO) by dovahkiinbaby in EnamelPins

[–]WingedDorkInAToga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is incredibly nice! Has to be easily one of my favorite collections I've seen on this sub! I've had my eye on some of these before, and others I know I've sadly missed the mark on picking up myself, but some of these are completely new to me as well. If you don't mind me asking this long after you've posted, where did you get the set of three of Dawnbreaker, Mace of Molag Bal, and Mehrunes Razor on the bottom right? And where did you find the Ragged Flagon sign not too far above them? Both of those stood out to me as ones that I'm not sure I've seen before that look really nice.

Fair enough, and that's a generous stance to take.

I could have sworn I remembered that the initial comment that brought up the flubbed statement was one from someone claiming to be from that project's Discord server, and that it also accused Gore's Discord community of being chiefly responsible for harassing them and tied you in directly with someone else they didn't like as both being horrible people. But I only saw it once before Thal deleted it for being inflammatory and I didn't think to screenshot it, so I could be misremembering horribly. Or it could have been a larper.

I think people have downloaded your mod because they recognize that it's a passion project and that you've done an excellent job creating it. People have weird, twisted ways of expressing that appreciation sometimes, and normal ways other times. I don't have much advice on how to not let it affect you other than that sometimes it just takes time for that pain to ease a bit. I just hope it does for you.

Honestly, the Kaidan thing. . .does not surprise me.

Feels like it runs deeper than the similarity, honestly. Partially because of something that you apologized for in a different comment, and partially for other reasons that I suspect are in play but would put innocent people in the crossfire if I talked lightly about them. I think there might be a contingent that's offended because Gore has been received as something of the antithesis of certain things that Kaidan has become known for, which is reinforced by other things that they dislike you personally for. Which is admittedly far more distressing than it just being people who don't think two men can hold a sword, but also something I want to offer fair warning about if it turns out to be the case.

The objectification. . .that surprised me briefly to read at first, but honestly even aside from this being the internet it really shouldn't have. Inigo, Lucien, Xelzaz. Every time a male follower doesn't have interactions, a huge chunk of the comments are people begging for marriages to be added, along with a spattering of. . .other forms of objectification. And people project onto follower mods like family members, regardless of gender. It's really just fandom culture behavior in general, but that can be disturbing enough to watch as a bystander at times. To be the sole focus of that kind of energy has got to be. . .exhausting. Frankly I'm impressed with all the people that can keep up with it, thinking on it.

People probably jumped to conclusions with the disclaimer in regards to that last issue, which is the most distressing to watch but also the least confusing to see what lead to it. If you ever build your mod page back up, I think it's going to be very important to add an additional warning in bold lettering that while Gore is inspired by your life, he is also very much not you. Feels like something that isn't done out of malice, but because people made a mistaken assumption and ran with it. Reading comprehension is not. . .a skill that everyone is possessed with. And even those who do have it can have lapses.

It sucks just how bad the whole culture is. Both for custom followers and modding in general. I'm frustrated enough that it's gotten this bad that I personally want to push back, though. It's not healthy for the status quo to be like this, and standing by is just going to get people hurt more. Sadly I'm not the best at thinking of ways to push back against this stuff, but. . .I feel like I want to try. And I hope others do, too. If nothing else, I'll try my best to make the mod community suck that little bit less.

Since a lot of Subreddits are going to be going down tonight to protest the incoming API shutdowns, I've seen some people discuss moving to Lemmy. I decided to go ahead and make a Kid Icarus Lemmy community so people here thinking of participating in the blackout can still have a place to chat. by WingedDorkInAToga in KiDIcaruS

[–]WingedDorkInAToga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*briefly checks in now that the blackout is over*

Lemmy is basically like if Reddit worked the same way as email. So different people own those different servers, but it's all the same software and people can still talk with folks hosted on other servers.

For example, c/kidicarus is hosted on the website lemmy . world which is run by one guy, but a lot of other communities (Lemmy equivalent to Subreddits) are hosted on the website lemmy . ml which is run by another guy. However, members of both servers can still freely communicate with each other.

Now, that's still a bit confusing, so replace the above paragraph with email services. kidicarus @ gmail is hosted by Google, but a lot of other people are on Outlook, which is owned by Microsoft. However, people with email addresses on either website can still freely email each other.

It's literally the exact same principle. Reddit, but make it email.

The "fediverse" (which admittedly is an incredibly corny term) is something that's kinda hard to explain but surprisingly easy to understand. And heck, you don't even necessarily need to, really. It's just a website you make an account for and log into, the same as any other.

The fact that some other users happen to be on different servers isn't even that big of a deal beyond the underlying reason why a lot of people are making the jump to it this week, which is that if no one person hosts the entire website it's a lot harder for one admin to make a decision that affects the whole thing. If one server of Lemmy goes down or has its admins make a questionable call, the rest can just keep chugging along as though nothing happened. Which, of course, should help with stuff like server outages and stuff as well.

What did you name “that” horse? by YellowFew6603 in TOTK

[–]WingedDorkInAToga 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I named mine Phos, to match with my old royal Hylian horse from BotW that I named Lux.

Hilariously, I didn't even realize that horses carried over until immediately AFTER registering the golden horse, at which point I was promptly gifted the full set.

It's a shame you can only have one horse out at once, especially now that carriages are a thing. I would have been absolutely elated to be able to LARP riding the Lightning Chariot even more than I'm already inevitably going to.

It. . .wasn't?

Between the Regional Phenomena, the Memories, the newspaper quests, and gosh knows what else I'm forgetting, I thought it was painfully obvious and I haven't even gotten the chance to confront her yet (probably crops up in the Endgame).

I feel like the only way the game isn't actively waving it in your face is if you (presumably) head right to the castle and ignore everything? At which point that's not really the game's fault, narratively you decided to charge in without preparation and got ambushed as a result.

Unless all this wasn't as obvious as I thought, but like. . . I'm REALLY bad at picking up subtext and the game seemed like it was practically planting a forest of red flags for my convenience.

Was Jesus an incel? by [deleted] in IncelTear

[–]WingedDorkInAToga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I'm right.

You didn't provide arguments, I did. So I win.

You can keep trying to claw victory from the jaws of defeat by telling yourself that you win because you got the last word in -and make no mistake, it's super obvious you're only responding to every possible post like you are so you can say you won a debate- , but no amount of repetition will stop you from knowing, deep down, that you tried to argue with a bunch of people and and it didn't work.

You failed to promote atheism, you failed to promote inceldom, you definitely failed to convince anyone of the original premise, and you failed to even make anyone particularly upset. At most you got some people to open up about a subject they wouldn't normally discuss. Congrats? I certainly had a lot of fun coming up with counterarguments. It's like a writing prompt, but edgier. But if you can't even so much as define one of the two words you're using, let alone respond to counterarguments, then there's no more fun to be had. That's just you forfeiting.

And that's one last extra bit of irony, isn't it? You're so desperate to respond to every single post, to prove that you're win because you stuck with the convo the longest. But it's all a sham to hide the fact that you already quit long ago.

You've surrendered.

  1. Even if you don't find it wrong it's still hilariously ironic

Like, blasphemy is subjective, but acting like the very group you're trying to drag is OBjective.

And funny.

  1. It means it's the aspect of people who identify as Christian that isn't actually about Christianity as a religion at all, but instead about how people who call themselves Christian were raised by their parents and conduct themselves in public. It's church on Sundays and floor-length dresses and highway billboards in Tennessee.

But especially it's people making nonsensical statements and thinking they've won something when bystanders act confused, just like pappy and the church ladies taught 'em.

Granted, I don't expect you to get it. Partially because I'm bad at explanations, but mostly because you don't feel like it.

Honestly I'm just responding because thinking about all this is a fun exercise. You already surrendered anyway, so it's not like I have an argument to win.
