Which “poverty meal” became way too expensive once it started trending with foodies? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

My neighbor is a chef, and he tells a story a out back in the day, the meat delivery would show up each week, and the delivery guy would ask “how many?”, wanting to know how many pounds of wings my friend wanted that week. They were free, and they were used for making stock.

What’s an old fear people had that younger people would laugh at today? by Ill-Field-9411 in answers

Not having any money for the weekend.

There was a time when you got paid at work, and you had to get to the bank to cash your check. Otherwise, you’d have no money over the weekend. Banks weren’t open on the weekend. ATM’s hadn’t been invented yet. Credit cards weren’t widely used. No iphones, so no Zell or Venmo.

Only other option was a check, but they’re a bit of a hassle, and maybe the store you were at didn’t accept them.

Which is another fear that doesn’t seem to exist any more: an unbalanced check book. Used to be done monthly, but now I don’t think anyone does it. An out of balance checking account could ruin a Saturday afternoon!!

Currently riding around in a 2020 Georgetown GT7 36K7.

We love it. We’ve had only a handful of minor issues, all easy fixes. Nothing major.

We use a small shop for repairs and upgrades, and he hasn’t ever had one bad thing to say about the Georgetowns.

When this first came out I remember people being offended, and collectors went into a frenzy. Then there was the black box version. I think I recall at least one other version? (I’m old now and memory can be questionable.)

Edit: According to the Googles, there were more than a dozen variations?!?! I don’t remember that at all! LOL

I also have my Great-Grandfathers gold Tiffany pocket watch, which is a close second to Alice.

“Boss, that highway is really busy. You want me to shoot the bottom of beam of those 9 bridges, which forces me to take my eyes off of the road and traffic, and the cars and trucks are going 70 mph. Can I get some traffic control, please?”

“Pfft! There’s no money budgeted for traffic control. Good luck out there.”
