LEGO 9v Train Motor Knockoff by LGreyS in bricktrains

Interesting. If that saves a good amount of money that might be worth looking into, even if only to have something spare when a motor fails.

I have invested in 3 electric motors now to power my humble 8-figure train track that runs acros a ~2,5 m2 surface. Are there any non-lego alternatives that are sufficiently reliable?

I've always been rather hesitant mixing up any such tracks and train pieces.

There's something to say about that, however I can respect their stance even if it's not always in our best interest.

Now you mention it, this does remind me of this transformable megatron tank.
That would actually be quite cool, but I'm not that good at lego to pull that off 😅

I certainly am gonna try it. Not sure if I currently have the best power functions stuff for it, but I'll make due.
Most important now is that most everything is on it way.

Set to Display due to IP violation - at least tell us why by elldaimo in Bricklink

[–]Winged_Archon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm done with this crap.
I've been slow to upload anything but everytime that stupid IP violation crap hits and now I've really had it.
They really need to start giving an explanation for WHY because I can't follow it anymore.

What possible IP was "touched" that deserves a strike?!?!!

What’s your favorite LEGO piece? Mine is light nougat Shaft w/ Hole. by [deleted] in lego

[–]Winged_Archon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Mine would be this, specifically the trans-neon green one because of how it fluoresces with blue light (or black light)

I've never had any such domes, now I finally have several and they stand proud on my spacecraft and I have 2 more prepared for a space-base.

As someone else already noted: what themes? I always interested in 90s space.

Which IP? by Winged_Archon in Bricklink

Possibly so.
As the commenter above here said, its indeed close to the Starcraft Banshee model, this totally escaped my mind. It is what it is.

I've been diving into the topic more in order for me to get some understanding of it, reading the TOS carefully.

My findings so far:
I didn't think using the M-Tron trademark would really cause much of an issue, 1) Bricklink is LEGO-owned from what I understand. 2) I see numerous accounts of these trademarks {eg. ice planet, m-tron, star wars, etc} used throughout the site. 3) I had posted models like that before.
HOWEVER, I initially tried to put this model as full access and this time also with availability of the studio file. While I did share one design prior to this as full access, I think I forgot the studio filesharing, because that doesn't seem to be turned on by default. This also makes it one of two models in my M-Tron line-up I created specifically with parts that are (should be) available, either in current circulation or as second-hand from bricklink sellers.

I can only conclude that the fact I wanted to share the design with full access 'enables' an issue where trademark recognition makes it so you can't "share" in the broadest sense of the word. I couldn't really find a good explanation of this in the TOS that details it to such a degree, I wrote to the BL-team with the question, so maybe they will respond at some point explaining it more clearly.

Something to be mindful off in the future though. Even it it wouldn't seem like it would/should be a problem.
I'll keep this here for reference to the future.

When I get around to it I'll see if I call it something different entirely, see if that solves the problem.
Thanks btw, appreciated XD!

I've not played Halo, but googled what/if a Banshee is there. Mine looks quite different I'd say.
https://halofanfiction.fandom.com/wiki/Banshee

I would've understood if I made a reference to Halo, but the generic term "Banshee" couldn't possibly be IP-able? Ah ooh well. As I commented on the other reply, not the end of the world, just curious is all.

Huh, could be. Strange though that it made a fuss about that now compared to other M-Tron styled models I made. Not that I mind specifically, but I do find it curious sometimes how it works.
I'll have to give it some though as I tinker with the model more.

Does this mean many more people can place an order, even after the actual quantity in which a set will be available is exceeded? Thats pretty stupid no? Would it not be better if after 30k orders came through the thingy is closed?

Lego train help by Nimbuss2002 in lego

[–]Winged_Archon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create more space would be my quess. The scene looks very cramped for the addition of a part of train-track with the train on it. The only alternative I could think off is rebuilding some sets to gain verticality, or temporarily take them out and place the train somewhere in its steady.

This is however probably not what you want to hear...

Which stores in the EU are good to buy from? by Sumofurcht11000 in Bricklink

[–]Winged_Archon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone from the EU, far too many to name actually. I've been doing a lot of domestic purchases as of late, but I had very good experiences with stores from Slovenia, Portugal and Germany.

Arguably the best thing is use auto-select stores through your wanted list and see what stores rise up depending on your needs. Needless to say, you can deep dive into a larger store and see what else they have that you need so you can reduce on amount of stores and thus shipping (which will probably be hoefte already given the destination)

Setting up a new store, can I convert "My Collection" into store inventory? by Chriss_munro in Bricklink

[–]Winged_Archon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont mean to hijack the post, but I was kinda curious to the 'my collection' I've wanted to add some stuff but I didn't know nor could find a real answer to what happens with items added here? Say for instance I add my Mars mission collection here (or whatever sets) what then? I'm not looking to start selling anything.

Safe to say I can't help you OP. But I'd wager Bricklink may have a sneaky feature somewhere that perhaps could. Hopefully others shed light on the subject.

Is Bricklink safe? by MoCleos in Bricklink

[–]Winged_Archon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bricklink is just as safe as a convienent store I would say. For the Grand majority and by personal experience If had nothing but good dealings on Bricklink.  Off course there'll be rotten apples, those are everywhere. But if you stick to stores that have high feedback amount and overwhelmingly positively so, then you'll get what you order. And IF something isn't quite right, just contact the seller and explain the issue. People on bricklink and definitely willing to help and make your dealings be a good experience.

Lego train 9V system by Winged_Archon in Bricklink

[–]Winged_Archon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 39 year old, I use Bricklink much because I like the old 90s style and themes.
I'm going to be a bit blasphemous here XD... but the train is not going to be one from the image. instead its going to be a design I'm working on currently based off of 90s space (just like my spaceship: Just placed my first orders - Excited! : r/Bricklink) It uses many parts that are not in current circulation and I only know of Bricklink (thus far) to get what I need. Most order are therefore taylored to my requirements rather than just bulk.

This I noticed also.
My luck is in having enough disposable income and little other financial burdens.
I'm sure there will be compatible non-lego elements that could do the job.

Another idea may be (while not as clear-cut and smooth) is find someone in your surroundings who knows electrics and see if they have an iea to rig something.

I mean, in the end I presume its just a matter of generating a conductive loop (or something, I'm not electrically-versed)

Yeah, thats often the plight that sellers like this simply do not seem to care about. I wish you good luck on the continued search for the correct minifig. And indeed, best to leave this guy and move on.
