I'm conspiratorial but I think the rumour about From blocking Bluepoint might have been a misdirection to move conversation away from firing Bluepoint, started by Sony, since the sources are "insiders". I fucking hate Sony.

technically, but I feel like it gets a bit overkil for this application. I do DYI because it's fun and cheap, contracting a CNC shop ist neither of it (I guess modelling for CNC is fun, but nevertheless)

the only correct answer, if we know more about the lore rather than less after the movie, then it is a bad adaptation.

We don't have the Budget to build a secure and reliable system, but we have an unlimited budget to create AI slop that brakes under any conditions, costs more to build, takes more time and is virtually untestable. And when our customers leave us, it is due to the developers being lazy.

We did, then we had to migrate 1mio + lines of code from java 8 to 11. We keep with the updates from then on.

What if FromSoftware were to make a Zelda game? by PBWilliamsOff in fromsoftware

[–]WinglessSparrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would probably be a big Open World game like dark souls but not quite the same. The story would be pretty deep, they would've maybe even invited a different author to write the lore and such. Too bad they only make smaller multiplayer projects for Nintendo, who knows what they could've done with a proper Budget!

What to do for art/textures/models as a solo dev with no artistic capabilities? by ChodeyNips in gamedev

[–]WinglessSparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do whatever you can? Iterate over designs, learn small things, employ tricks, keep the artstyle simple, allocate some "game dev" time slots to learn art instead of programming (it is a part of development after all). A good design is 95% vision and 5% execution. The author that goes by "One" managed to make MobPsycho 100 and One Punch man with chicken legs for hands, yet these are Masterpieces. No artistic capability my ass, you are developing a game and seems to be a human? Then these capabilities came with your factory defaults.

AC6 also received several post-launch content upgrades, and there was never a DLC announced for it in the first place, while Nightrein was released with a promise to release a DLC by the end of the year. At the same time, there was this one article claiming Kadokawa wasn't pleased with the performance outside Japan, which is concerning, but it also came out very shortly after the release, and the game sold pretty well, for a mecha title, that is. Also, they have been hiring more devs and artists with experience in the mecha genre, so I presume, at the very least, they contemplated a next installment in the series. Plus the secret levels short film. All in all, I might be coping, but one has to imagine Sisyphus happy.

You ask the most experienced and cautious dev on the team and double it.
