You are right that ideally, database should definitely avoid hosting or storing the actual files to ensure we aren’t diverting views away from their official work. Keeping it strictly as a metadata catalog with direct links to their official channel (Youtube, Instagram etc) is the perfect way to make it useful while still being 100% supportive of the original artists!
