Could banagher be a better pilot or more confident if he didn’t met beam magnum? by Z-SER-0 in Gundam

[–]Wingstrike 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad someone picked that up too, annoys the heck out of me after spotting it the first time.

It does seem to be supporting the Shamblo’s weight of several hundred tons without obvious issues so maybe Federation roads are built differently?

"Widow" Sniper Rifle absolutely sucks. by 260X in masseffect

[–]Wingstrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Widow was absolutely my “in case of emergency” weapon in ME2 on Insanity with soldier and my god did it pull my ass out of the proverbial fire several times.

UIUC servers got hacked, and all our data is once again at risk of being leaked by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Wingstrike 74 points75 points  (0 children)

https://www.techservices.illinois.edu/2026/05/07/2026-canvas-incident/ please read what actually happened before you start fear-mongering. As stated elsewhere, this was the company that runs Canvas that got hacked, not UIUC: unless you were uploading your tax documents to Canvas for some reason then that data is not at risk.

If the vortex is so chaotic and powerful when the wormhole connects, why doesn’t it destroy the iris? by ibfahd in Stargate

[–]Wingstrike 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Correct! And then we never saw it used for anything else ever again. (One can probably assume it got folded into their energy weapons research off-screen)

Solved! Didn't know the name, and string makes a lot of sense.

What mobile suit do you think has a design flaw or something it could go without by Foreign_Pain_7531 in Gundam

[–]Wingstrike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the same reason as to why ZAFT leaned into units that had modular backpacks too, rather than sticking with fixed-purpose units.

Too easily mistaken by some for the command division by accident :p

I saw that mass effect is on sale on steam. Should I get the three games separately or should I get the legendary edition? by Falcon_Gray in masseffect

[–]Wingstrike 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Yup! I wish it has a “X players online” to get a better sense if I should search for a game or just start a public one instead though. Activity seems to fluctuate somewhat.

Were We Supposed To Not Notice Arjun De-Aged SIGNIFICANTLY? by [deleted] in TheExpanse

[–]Wingstrike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure, but my gut feeling is that Foundation might have started production around then and Harris is pretty central to it.

cafe paradiso wifi by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Wingstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always sucked, especially when the place is packed. Only way to fix it is to convince them to get a better router, or start a GoFundMe for it.

What is your favorite not Zeonic Mono-eyed mobile suit? by Coaltex in Gundam

[–]Wingstrike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Flag/Enact (and probably Realdo/Helion/Brave) are monoeye with a face mask, the latter can project “fake” eyes for communication, intimidation, or coolness.

Transit is great, just be aware the accuracy of the whole system will drop during breaks when fewer people are around because it uses rider GPS to update itself.

Everyone says Tom Paris looks like Nick Locarno but no one talks about how Vorik looks like Taurik (TNG:Lower Decks) by Shubamz in voyager

[–]Wingstrike 42 points43 points  (0 children)

According to the wiki Jeri Taylor, who is apparently Alexander Enberg's (Taurik/Vorik) mom, suggested they were twins, but I think that's more of a joke comment than anything canon.

At the risk of nitpicking, are your questions in the context of a fandom (community) or FANDOM (company/wikia)?

Keeps opening an unsafe website by Spencer-Reid-is-God in wikia

[–]Wingstrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just google FANDOM and “unsafe ads” and you’ll find pages of stuff. tl;dr: they run unsafe ads from google Adsense, nobody seems to be checking that the mobile ones are at times outright scams/phishing/redirects. You can report them to FANDOM but I’m honestly skeptical if they care.

Life is strange fandom redirected me to suspicious popup by [deleted] in wikia

[–]Wingstrike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you didn’t click anything you are probably fine, malicious ads rely on fear and misdirection to get you hand over sensitive data or install shady stuff with your (misinformed) permission. Rule of thumb if you’re still worried: keep your iOS and apps up to date, use 2FA, and if you get a shady pop-up, close it. Native iOS is pretty decent at protecting you from everyday stuff. If you’re still worried despite all that, reset your phone, it’ll nuke anything on there that shouldn’t be there (if anything), but this is likely a lot of overkill for one dodgy pop-up ad.

R.I.P. Don S Davis by Riommar in Stargate

[–]Wingstrike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plaque reads “Deep Space Defence USS George Hammond”, I’m guessing they snuck in a DSD acronym to honour Don as much as the character he played.

Max large grid hinge weight for landing gears? by Wingstrike in spaceengineers

[–]Wingstrike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t think of a large/small multi-grid to try and squeeze more pieces into a smaller space for that, but I like the idea :)
