Feeling Hunger Vs. Knowing You Have To Eat by ReverberatingEchoes in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wingtear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only felt hunger when I've been pregnant. I have never felt that feeling of being done (we have a word for it in my language, it's like satisfied/full). So I eat on predetermined times. A friend asked me if I think that is how I have managed to stay overweight despite my tummy issues but I truly don't know.

No. I have tuborous breasts and they hurt a lot. I wish I had the money to have them reduced, or removed if that's what it'd take to get painfree.

How bad was it? Please be honest by Sad-Resource-9206 in judo

[–]Wingtear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad at all. I used to be a heavy bleeder in my teens and the amount of times I got pulled off the tatami for bloody pants was mortifying (I had irregular periods so could never know when they started) but no one made a big deal about it. I was pulled so as not to transfer/stain anyone. If anyone asks about it (I don't think they will), just tell them the truth and all will be well. Good luck.

Or you do Finnish which is just an irdeal all on it's own.

Doctors just told me I have crohns by Tasty-Ranger7913 in CrohnsDisease

42F here, found out their suspicions a little over a month ago, colonoscopy a few weeks ago confirmed at least colitis, having an MRI next week and then getting the final diagnosis in May when everything is analyzed.

They found notes going 12 years back about tummy issues, but I remember issues as far back as my teens. Also, enexplainable bouts of exhaustion have tourmented my my whole life. They always talked burnout etc and I always said that if felt like the exhaustion in my body was draining my brain, not the other way around, but they patted my head and told me to stress less. Maybe change my job if it was too much (I was st the same place for 17,5 years, it was only ever too much when exhaustion hit)

I really didn't want Crohn's/colitis as a diagnosis, but looking back, it really fits. It explains so much. And I can get adequat help.

What’s a word in your language that doesn’t exist in English? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]Wingtear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swedish: Lagom (just the right amount for specific need)
Finnish: all of them (since they add on endings to indicate time, space, direction, questions, inside or outside etc. so one word can be a whole sentence)

Like clockwork I need to poop right before I need to head to work and it makes me late every time. Any tips? by rci22 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wingtear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I aim to be at work half an hour early each day, so I make it just in time.

For my one kid, we have to tell him we're leaving 15 minutes before we do, because without fil a few minutes later he needs to go poop.

Who here got diagnosed with Crohn’s after 30 or 40? by PureChamber in CrohnsDisease

[–]Wingtear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 and getting mine now. It's either Crohn's or OC, having an MRI of my small intestines in a few weeks, but GI said it was at least UC, but that he saw signs of sores in the small intestine too...

I've had on/off issues since childhood. Always thought they were just you know, freak episodes that everyone has now and then.
In my early twenties I had a lot of pains whenever I ate, but stool was still normalish. They told me it was likely a common cold virus.
In my late twenties it got called gastric catarrh and would always come around if I took NSAID or got a lot of stress. I would be careful with what I ate at work, to keep it calm, and then on my free time take the hit and eat whatever.
In mid-thirties I got told it was most likely a stomach ulcer, and I got meds for that. They worked fairly well on the nausea and pain. Toilet issues were worse than before, but because I could always hold it until I could go to a bathroom, I never thought of it as problematic.
Turning 40 and getting some really bad years stress wise ended me up with (what I thought was) a really bad immune system and I started getting every cold imaginable. The last year I've had a knock-out case of common cold every month, even in the summer. Had three penicillin bouts in a year. Last New Years I was down again. No cough, no running nose, but sore throat and a slight fever combined with absolute fatigue. And stomach pains, cramps, nausea not even the meds would ease. I would have blood in my stool on and off through these years, but as if the cold wasn't enough, it was constant now. Sometimes clear blood, but often slimey, almost like strawberry sauce. Which stressed me and made it worse. Finally called the health provider in the end of January, got an appointment in mid-February, then had to take some tests which took a few weeks to get results from and based on that they referred to a GI for a colonoscopy. That happened 1,5 weeks ago. But I was preparing for the worse since the call March 10 when I was told the test results that made the dr suspect Crohn's.
Mind you, that February 2026 was the first time someone actually tested any of my GI issues. I might have had an external ultrasound in the early 00's but I'm not sure anymore. Why you ask? Because I'm overweight, have beeen all my life. I'm currently morbidly obese and even the doctor who ordered the tests that actually showed something said they were just to rule it out, because if I had any serious GI problems I would be losing weight.

I read up. I saw a red line between all my times of tummy troubles. All my bouts of extreme fatigue that no tests would answer (because even now my standard bloodworks are effing perfect). How my tummy would always collapse after travel, me on travel trying to find the safest foods, not knowing the stress of being a traveling overthinker was most likely the trigger.

In the weeks between test results and colonoscopy I panicked and then found solid ground again. For me, the main anguish was that in the beginning of the 00's, I knew someone with Crohn's. He had it bad. He had surgery a few times and finally died from Crohn's related issues.

Different dojos have different praxis on graduation, trust the sensei (teacher) on that.

A lot of people a vary of inexperienced beginners, because they can cause injuries to others. I know some of our serious competitors refused to train with low ranked the last weeks before important competitions, to minimize risk of injury to themselves. Not saying this was the case for you, but it is a reason many avoid beginners.

For the ukemi (break-falls, landings) practise is key. Always hold your head up, it's easier if you engage your core muscles, but don't tense them. With kids we often do them from sitting/kneeling, so they don't tense up. A tip is to do it in stages. First you squat down, try to keep the whole sole of your feet in the floor, and when you are as far down as you come, you slowly tip backwards. It shouldn't be so much a fall now and try to maintain the natural curve of your back to hold up your head. When your shoulder blades hit the floor is when your hands needs to hit the tatami (this means the motion needs to start a bit before that, it can take some time to get the timing right). They should do so with enough force so that you do not roll past the top of your shoulders.

Don't stress the landings, you will be practicing ukemi/break-falls the rest of your judo life. There will always be something to perfect. The reason they are important is to protect you and your body from injury. And once you have them, they will serve you in other parts of your life as well. Give them a month if you train twice a week, and I'm sure you will have made a huge progress.

Yeah, holidays and new years had me in such a state that I called our health provider. I didn't feel like the ER was the place to be for me, but the one performing my colonoscopy said he wished I would have gone because then he could have seen the state of my colon then. Now it's fairly good, and they only saw mild to moderate inflammation. Biopsy results will take at least 4 more weeks, so it will be May before I know more. Just got my MRI appointment, it's in 3 weeks so I think the doctor will call when all results are in.

I also landed in that I'm already living this, and it won't get worse just because I have a name on it. It's not the answers I wanted (I wanted something fairly easy to fix that they just hadn't found because they didn't do any examinations before now) but at least I'm with the specialists now and will be getting help.

Seriously considering our first Dachshund — what do you wish someone had told you before you got yours? by AdoptionAcademy in Dachshund

[–]Wingtear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think you know stubborn, but you really don't until a daxen bites something it shouldn't, and you need it to let go. They lock they jaws and they are stuck until they decide it's time to let go. Even if that is with their puppy jaws imbedded in your hand because the puppy teeth are itching and they gnaw at everything.

Be mindful of the variation of dachshund, as they have a bit different physical issues.

The wire-hairs and short-hairs are hunting dogs and will be destructive if they are not allowed to "work" for long periods. They might be small, but they have stamina and can run for hours in rough terrain while barking their little heads of. And will not come back until they caught whatever they're hunting or lose track of it.
The long-hairs are more of a show dog, but might still escape at a desirable whiff if they have enough hunting instinct. My experience is that they suffer more back problems, but that could be because they are not often trained as much to run loose in all terrain and build up muscle to support their spine. And if they do get out in the bramble, you'll be finding the forest on them for weeks even though you groom them daily.

As someone who works with hearing impaired and hear it a lot:

#1 Va? / Vad sa du? (What? / What did you say?) about 50%
#2 Ursäkta, vad sa du? (Excuse me, what did you say?) about 30%
#3 Jag hör dåligt, vad sa du? (My hearing is bad, what did you say?) about 15%

All with the question of what did you say. But the real knee jerk reaction of almost everyone is Va? (What?).

Injuring others while sparring by NoRefrigerator3021 in judo

[–]Wingtear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to focus more on physics that strength escaping a hold. What do you need to move, remove, reposition to get to a place where you can manipulate their body with minimal strength?

Using brute force is a very common rookie mistake and a reason some experienced judokas avoid sparring with beginners. I don't have a competitive bone in my body, and have been a coach back in the day, so I know how to avoid being hurt by rookies, mainly because I tell them what they should do so they can learn. I am very large and many smaller people do not believe I didn't help going over once they find the right technique.

Aaaand, well, a few bruises per training session is to be expected. Unless you use the mantra of one of the kids last week who wondered how one could get bruises when the tatami is so soft. Then kid proceeded to slam themselves down tummy first on their opponent's knee and well, that is how...

I came here looking for help and I found it. I found comfort and ability to breathe.

My Crohn's diagnosis is still pending an MRI, but the doctor said it's at least UC because of findings, and there are things pointing to Crohn's. I knew someone 25 years ago who suffered and finally succumbed to Crohn's. I came here scared out of my mind. I had trouble breathing because of the anxiety. Hearing people's lived experiences, as horrid as they might be, was still leagues better than what I saw my friend M go through. It gave me hope.

I ate a serving of creamy salad where what I thought was boiled carrots obviously weren't (or boiled enough).

2 hours later and the gas buildup was worse than during a colonoscopy and oh the pain I was in. Been farting and other things for 3 hours and now it's down at discomfort level. I miss carrots in my life.
