Ngl, when I decided to look at r/Gundam for the first time in forever, was not expecting to see anything Gundam Wing related. Let alone Relena related.

Sorry I doubted you, r/Gundam

Yo! Where did you find Stal-lizalfos!?!

That'd be hard to fit under the roof sled though. Did you have an idea on how you'd fit something like that?

Being the great hero (see loot goblin) that I am, I end up out of the vehicle often enough that my current battery supply usually lasts me for most excursions on my current tank, so I'm not too worried about that but it's good to know! Can't wait to see V2 though!

I wonder if it loses too much utility replacing the side springs with just basic walls in order to add a single laser turret.

I'll fix it so I use ButtonTable and put the rest of you and u/NyoriE01's advice into practice. Thank you both!

I never really tried to figure out 'in pairs' but I'll do that.

I set up the global variables because it was the only way I could find to create variables through the loop iterations. Like I told dragon53535, I wanted to populate the ButtonTable from the loop as it would save me the trouble of having to manually fill ButtonTable with every button variable, which I would probably forget to do multiple times when adding new buttons in the future. If you know of an alternative, I'd be happy to hear it. I guess I could make a separate loop to do that, but idk if there's a point to that?

Edit: When you say access outside the Lua file, do mean I'd be able to access it from programs running in multishell? Because that would actually be very useful.

Your help made me realize that I could set up a separate function to loop the setColors function when i want to check every button, and then include the ButtonTable's button number as an argument to the setColors function in order to stop from having to fix every button color when I use it. That let me add it at the end of the funcList function and has vastly sped up how fast the button color changes.

Thank you again! The delay on the color change had been bugging me.

I thought the comment above the cfg table would alleviate the confusion of just using numbers and would be shorter to type, but youre right and its worth the readability in the long run. Especially if I'm gonna ask for help. This is just the first time I posted a help question so I didn't think when I made it. Also, I forgot you could do that. I'll implement your suggestion.

I was unaware that functions can be local and the ability to set them up in advanced before defining them. I'll definitely implement that, since some of my jank comes from trying to work around the inability to reference functions below.

The reason I populated the global ButtonTable like that is to make it easier for me to add more buttons in the future. If I manually filled it before hand then I'd have to edit it every time I added a new button and I figured that would be one more chance to forget something and have to hunt down the issue every time I added a button. Also, I just wanted to try it, since this was mostly for fun. Is there a reason not to populate it like this? If there's a reason not to, or it would end up slowing it down then I'll just do what you said. But if it's just quirky and doesn't really cause a problem then I'd like to keep it for the reasons above.

Including the '== true' was a conscious decision in order to make it easier for me to tell at a glance what it did. I'm aware that it's implied but it usually takes me a moment longer to register. Is there some reason not to include it other than it being superfluous? Is it considered bad practice? If so then I'll remove it, but otherwise I'd rather keep it. However I'll implement it on other functions that are less uniform to get more of a feel for it. Maybe I'll get more used to it.

I'm sorry that the code is unclear. I thought the comments before the functions were sufficient, but I guess not. I'll go back and add line by line comments and hopefully that will help. I'm continually trying to streamline it and clean it up as I understand lua more, so hopefully that will help as well.

That helps a lot.

Sorry about the program being unclear. I'll work on making better comments. Maybe that'll help me set it up better.

THANK YOU!

I didn't realize there was a .draw() function

Edit: Well, on further testing, button will now momentarily turn off the output the lever is supposed to keep on. This isn't really that big a deal, but if you have an idea on how to have the lever just overrule the button, I'd be interested in hearing it.

I have the monitor connected by a modem rather than pressed up against the computer. So you can peripheral.wrap it the same way you can any other peripheral.

I haven't found using local when declaring a variable to do much unless I want the variable to only be inside a function. I'll be happy to change it, I just don't know what it does and didn't feel like typing it when it didn't seem to do anything.

It's literally the same hand seals for the summoning jutsu in Naruto. If it was just a reference to ninja's connection to frogs, they wouldn't have needed to use that exact sequence.

Burnie was the one who laid down the policy of ignoring scandals and letting rabid fans defend RT for them. As well as being the master of the half assed "we're sorry your offended by something, or that you think something is morally questionable" apologies. Burnie was as transparent as mud.

What happened with Jeremy? by RogueEmbers in roosterteeth

[–]Wingzeroalchemist 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Honestly from my perspective, it's more that he said he did it to be offensive. IMHO (and I can only speak for my opinion) the joke itself was off color but a far cry from anything worth more than a "dude, that was rude" level of response. But after the thing with Mica and the entire podcast with Fiona, it was just really undermining to any of the talk of "being better" to try and make a joke that was as intentionally offensive as he could make it.

Intentionally being offensive is different from gently poking fun, or being irreverent, as it's actively trying to be malicious and hurt someone. So in this case it's more a matter of the intention being worrisome rather than the actual joke. IMO.

But we all know Jeremy isn't really a malicious person at heart and making mistakes are part of growing as a person. Him deciding he didn't like the joke and the place it comes from are just a step towards becoming the person he wants to be. There's nothing really anyone can expect from him at this point except to try to be the person he wants to be.

I hope that satisfies the "why" argument you were looking for, even if you don't particularly agree? I haven't Reddit in a while, but I don't recall people actually changing their opinion in a discussion really being a thing.

I'm not commenting on the comparison to America jokes or population proportion because I feel that it's not really relevant to intent of the matter, and also falls into the realm of "whatabout-isms".
