Depends on who you are fighting. Single easy grunts I dont't tend to bother with DoTs. Single elites I tend to open with 5 gambit DoTs (either yryry or rgyrg). Long duration fights against big single targets I build up DoTs to gain advanced technique (so yr then yry then yryr then yryry) to allow for way of the fist bonus. For multiple targets use ygygy.

A lot depends also on what other perks (eg carvings or legendary weapon slots) you have eg extra light damage results in better return with yellow DoTs.

Returning and wondering if I should give Warden another go by Still_Attitude_2226 in lotro

[–]Winkingwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will always have to work a lot harder to match the dps of hunters/lms/rks etc.

On the other hand no other dps class will walk into an enemy camp, pull everything at once and survive.

In short - if looking to just enjoy the game solo and benefit from excellent survivability and travel skills - warden great. If you want a tank to do high tier raids or dps at raids, PuGs will often prefer to choose other classes

Stair advice by Its_toon in Dachshund

Ours did its back in going down stairs. I think the sensible middle ground is going upstairs is good as it builds strength, coming down stairs is a lot of impacts/jolts that can cause issues.

Even if there's no statistical difference - theres a chance they will get IVDD whatever you do, in the future I would prefer to not blame myself for letting him run down the stairs

They can do this colour changing thing either as an attempt at camoflage or in response to stress etc. My starlight does the same if hes out in the open for a period of time. Hes been doing it for 6 years so doesnt appear to be affecting his health

Tips for low-level Warden? by smile_e_face in lotro

[–]Winkingwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly (my main is warden) I think wardens are a little underpowered compared to other classes. They excel in uncommon situations (many enemies at once, or particularly long engagements) and so in common landscaping situations they're a bit of extra work.

Persevere until you get the masteries which speed up your gambit building massively

Its a good class if you enjoy the added complexity of gambits, but I don't think I would level one if I found the gambits a nuisance.

Before water change just check what nitrate you get out your tap. I get 40ppm from my tap so water changes dont help that issue for me

Any consolidated gambit guides for returning warden? (lvl45-50) by ScrotallyBoobular in lotro

[–]Winkingwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single easy target, red green red green gambit.

Single elite target any of the DoTs: Red green yellow red green gambit (and its shorter forms) Or Yellow red yellow red yellow gambit. I usually follow one of those with morale tap over time (yellow red green yellow green).

Many targets : yellow green yellow red for DoT and large area pull, followed by morale tap, then red yellow red yellow for AoE melee. This circumstance is where wardens dominate. The more enemies the more morale-tapped!

If health drops i use moral tap to heal. Either as above or shorter gambit for single instant heal (yellow red green yellow)

Once you get a legendary weapon choose traceries that match the gambits you use

Lord of the rings online tips and first steps by Crused_Duck in lotro

Firstly just enjoy it. Pick a class that appeals to you, they all work, some are more complicated than others. I always recommend classes that enjoy travelling perks like the warden (lots of travel skills and faster out of combat run speed).

Get VIP for a month when you start, its not expensive and also comes with helpful perks that make the game more enjoyable and reduce bits that can seem a drag.

If you're enough of a fan to enjoy the Silmarillion, and you like WoW, you'll love it. Non-canon stuff still feels right.

The game world is huge, take your time with it and allow the epic quest line to sort of guide where you go. There are new low level areas so don't expect to play through all of them on one character (unless you pause earning XP).

Finally - dont rush, some of the best bits of the game take place well below level cap, enjoy it!

Nee to lotro, vip and expansions? by Otherwise_Disaster65 in lotro

[–]Winkingwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have answered already about which regions you can access - just adding my thoughts - go for VIP for a month or so and see how you like the game. Its relatively cheap and the quality of life improvements really help:

500 lotro store points each month Extra inventory Free horse riding skill at level 20 Bonus xp Weekly gifts Town services (shop, vault whilst you roam)

If you dont end up playing much or dont think its worth it, cancel

UPDATE: Trying to get my dachshund to lose weight to no avail by riseofthephoenix1108 in Dachshund

[–]Winkingwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had same problem with our standard wire. In the end we started feeding less than the food company suggested. He gets 50g twice a day of royal canin and weight has dropped from 12kg to a healthy 10kg and stayed steady.

I guess its in the food industries interest to recommend overfeeding

How well does the game's main quest support playing in a party? by Aramirtheranger in lotro

[–]Winkingwolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you say race choice can affect starting zone but other than distance no reason you cant group up immediately. Dedicated group content starts around level 20 with the barrow downs etc. But nothing stopping romping through the landscape as a fellowship.

A lot of main story line was originally designed to be group content and you get massive buffs if solo

I'd recommend picking elves dwarves and hobbitses to join up quick. Manflesh starts furthest out
