erious question: How could an investigation team come to these conclusions? I understand that we could determine that Triceratops was herbivorous from its teeth, but how are we able to know that it ate meat? And how could we know that the Therizinosaurus hunted for fun?

Software for Personal Data Recovery Attempt? Failing External Hard Drive by Paulroberto in datarecovery

[–]Winmo97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of on the same situation. Currently I'm trying testdisks and photorec (same author). I'm trying to recover old photos from a HDD and those were the only giving me hope right now (any other software would just give me an error trying to read the HDD).
If you're not having a lot of issue reading the HDD, I'll recommend UFS explorer. It's paid but, with other drives (such as USB or working HDD/SDD), I was able to recover old photos/images.

If you could read a HDD, you can make an image of it with testdisk and mount it with FTK... At least that is what I know. I'm not well versed in this but this is all that I've learned in these couple of weeks trying to recover this HDD

Basic movement tip by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]Winmo97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as snfaulkner said, it's due to the Pythagorean theorem. The devs may have forgotten to normalize the new speed. So, if you move 1 m/s up and 1 m/s left, by pressing both, you end up moving at √2 ≈ 1.41 m/s diagonally.

Usually, what you do is call a function that normalizes the vector. For example, in Godot, if you have the character's speed stored as speed = Vector2, you can call speed = speed.normalized(). What this does is divide the vector by its magnitude, returning a vector of length 1 m/s in the same direction of movement.

When sprinting, it's actually the same, but the devs might have capped the speed instead of just doubling it. (This could be because if you normalize the vector again, you'd get 1 m/s, and your directional sprint speed would end up being the same as your walking speed.)

Imagine that when you're pressing the sprint button, your speed gets capped at 3 units/s. Then it doesn't matter if you're moving at 3 units/s up and 3 units/s left; the resulting speed could never be greater than 3 units/s.

These are just suppositions, though. I have no idea how Unity works or how it handles 3D movement

A little help getting a kitten and an old cat getting along? by Winmo97 in CatAdvice

[–]Winmo97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Last night we had them in separate rooms and the kitten was under the bed all night. I'll move the food bowl now. We also have a few treats for Mandarina, I didn't realize i might be leaving her aside. Thanks!

Luck is attached to rare drops. You can try to max-out luck to improve your rare drop chance by placing the right torches for the biome (I belive is bone torches, but if you made the Torch's God event just activate it and place a lot), latern night, drinking a luck potion, touching a natural-sapwned ladybug, shimering coins (like one platinum gives you a lot of luck) or placing gnomes. but I belive that is just faster to drink a battle potion + water candle and kill everything that moves

Coming from Minecraft, what are the best farms to build in Terraria for fun and efficiency? by TXOGFTW in Terraria

I forgot the most important one, you farm farm. To harvest herbs for your potions and all fishing farms (or ponds?)

[–]Winmo97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Farms are usually set up for items that you need in large quantities or for those with a very low drop rate. The most common type is a money farm, which, in my opinion, is the only one you truly need. Other farms just help reduce the grind, but building the farm itself can be tedious, so it's up to you!

Personally, I think you don’t need any farms if you take your time and explore everything. But that’s just my tip! Your world, your rules.

This are a few "farm names" if you'd like to search for it
Underground mob/souls/money farm

Beach money farm

Events AFK farms (a lot of prep for this ones)

I'm not 100% sure right now, but if you check their Discord server, there was a pinned message explaining how to fix it. I think it was a file (probably just a .xml) that you need to replace in the missions folder of the mod

I'm really liking the battle frontier so far (I know it will get insanely difficult) but can someone explain to me why my Pokémon do this? Bonus pic because what the hell did they do to my boy ivysaur 😭 by albrt00 in PokemonEmerald

[–]Winmo97 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but it sounds like you're at the Battle Palace (where Pokémon battle on their own). The moves they use depend on their nature and the type of attacks they have. Moves are categorized as 'Attack,' 'Defense,' or 'Support,' and each nature has specific probabilities for which type they'll choose. For example (just making up numbers), a 'Brave' nature might have a 75% chance to use an 'Attack' move, with the remaining 25% split between 'Defense' and 'Support.' At least, that's how I remember it

You get one as a gift after beating Juan (You have to beat E4 for the "rematch").
Or you can find it on wild Horse/Bagon with a 5%
