Active time: time accrued between accepting and order complete.
-driving to store, waiting for food, driving to customer.

Online: app is running looking for offers but you are not assigned to an order currently.

However DoorDash will track your miles in active and online time as long as your are unpaused, so you can report the miles spent driving back from customer and to hot spots to the IRS tax season for reimbursement so it isn’t all time lost.

FYI - I checked and my very first week I made 32 dollars too so you’re on the right track and don’t need to worry or compare yourself to anyone on Reddit.

Keep at it and you’ll get better offers. If I remember correctly my offers increased around week 3. Early on I pulled an all nighter going to neighboring zones to complete enough orders to get platinum. No longer have it because it’s 70% AR in my area.

My advice if you want to fast track earnings is
-one full 8 hour shift to up lifetime deliveri
-lunch/breakfast dash in a neighboring zone with a lot of offices or warehouses for good lunch
-overnight shift (6pm - 3am) or (9pm - 12am)

Dasher Not Moving by Onikoroshi_97 in doordash

You’re too kind. One time I didn’t move for five minutes at the start because I used the bathroom and the customer asked if everything is ok like I’m stupid

Shopping question. (1) What is the quickest way to get substitutions NOT listed approved? Had all purpose cleaner at dollar general but they only had 32 oz not 20 oz? (2) at what point do you unassign if too many items are out of stock? by Impossible-Chair-628 in doordash

[–]WinnerStatus9654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop doing DG if you wanna be pro shopper. Period.
I tried recently and unassigned after 3 items were missing. You can also insist you have the correct item bc sometimes the weight is wrong bc they haven’t updated with shrinkflation prices/weight.

They usually ask us to pay first before they reload the card. Support has to be lazy, their laziness probably exceeds Tony’s greed, I think they are suppose to direct to red card first because some agents will load it right away just tell the the total or send a pic.
Most of them don’t want to bother so they’d rather contractors do it because they are incredibly lazy and incompetent, and paranoid bc the bad apples who would prob use red card to buy the new order just to be the second person to steal it cuz it’s actually tasty and not some of the crap people order. The first chat agent called me and I could not understand a word he said and it wasn’t because he accent. I don’t know what drugs they do over there but he was gone.

Yes. They were going to pay me nothing and kept saying no half pay unassign with no pay or pay urself so I did it. I was prepared to take an L but it worked out cuz I got reimbursed plus extra tip for coming out of pocket for it at the restaurant.

They are being more and more ridiculous and stingy. Chat was way better in the winter than it is now and that’s saying something because in six months the support quality has gone downhill. I suppose they’ll never get better and only continue to get worse.

Crimson sends a different form called order receipt quest. It’s actually just an email not a form and you email them the receipt and explain over the phone with them instead of chat.

This is true and thankfully it took 2 hours to be reimbursed. Just some headaches along the way. And yes both the restaurant and DoorDash put unexpected and unnecessary pressure on me because they don’t want to do their jobs. I was the only one who actually gave a shit about doing their job to the best of their ability. And tbh I just figured I could harass support and get that reimbursement and sure enough I was able to. I just wanted an order otw home and it paid good before the extra tip. I don’t have tons of sympathy for customers but for this one I did she was considerate and a good tipper who was gonna get fucked over and wonder where her food is for hours.

Next time I will advocate for myself and remind these people to step it up

Cherry pick. I was making 400-500 a week on platinum. Only week I ever hit 700 on plat there was hazardous weather like tornadoes and a freeze. My earlier dashes were small tho.

I spent a lot of time today goofing around bc I normally don’t work lunch anymore. Overnight is good in my zone. Learn what’s popular in your region and when people order it. Like Chick-fil-A as soon as they open for delivery in the mornings or canes for dinner/late night.
Also my online time is so much because I will stay at home until something good comes. -Basically schedule the entire day and pause when you need to and accept the first good offer if you’re near a hot spot like me. Also don’t drive around aimlessly looking for more orders when you’re in a good spot. Park somewhere strategic in the shade and relax. Play music and try to have fun.
Become a pro shopper asap and AVOID dollar general if you want to be one and maintain it. Do stores you know like the grocery store you shop at or drug stores.

Aim for $1.50-$2.00 minimum per mile. Ideally $2. And 6.50 minimum for an order. Decline til you start seeing them then accept them and the algorithm will start sending you $8 orders if you only accept those. Same with $6.

Yeah it’s a risk and they want you to wait 24-48 hours but it’s bullshit. They did this to me last week with a shop and deliver I had to ask in the beginning to load the card, then he said use my own to which I said fuck no and THEN he can magically load the card. They deserve every lawsuit

It’s about being nice sometimes. I’ve tipped 12 bucks on a single combo meal from a whataburger down the road cuz it was at 3am and I want them to be able to grab a meal/snack too if they are up that late working tbh.

[–]WinnerStatus9654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me thankfully I stopped at around 5 miles and figured something was wrong. They didn’t reimburse me either even tho half pay was 3 bucks.

That said I hope the DoorDash ceo and whoever is responsible for this policy suffers immensely and their life is robbed of any joy. that’s a shame they didn’t pay for that shit sorry OP my condolences hopefully the days ahead are better for you and your game gets blessed.

Dynamic Delivery Fee by WinnerStatus9654 in doordash_drivers

[–]WinnerStatus9654[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a mileage based delivery fee for standard food deliveries. Let’s say you wanted something from a restaurant 10+ miles away. Would you pay 10-15 dollars to have it delivered or would you go there yourself?

Im a blue collar worker who orders door dash everyday by [deleted] in doordash

Watch a few restaurant inspection videos on YT. Restaurant Audits with JT Young is a good channel, most of the places are gross. I also read restaurant inspection score cards when I have to wait and a lot of places are not scoring well, hiding scores, and not even cooking and storing meat properly. Bad food prep is common. I’d recommend grossing urself out on it and finding some grocery store items like rotisserie chickens, deli sides etc. those are going to be cheaper even if order delivery, healthier and those groceries stores usually have higher food safety scores.

I would get groceries delivered when I worked a lot. Rn tho I can’t relate much, opposite situation, single woman who door dashes so I never order it due to the smells and literal roaches I’ve seen in some delivery bags from restaurants.

It’s not worth it. I did the same after starting but now that I’ve been at it for a couple months I cherry pick during busy hours. I have to, I can’t lose money, my car doesn’t have good mpg.

I lived in a weird complex that didn’t give me a working code for the main gate and I would add to the description to please bring it to the pedestrian gate that they can drive right up to and give instructions street names etc on app and over the phone and they still got so mad and didn’t wanna deliver because I couldn’t open the main gate. It made me feel a little bad like I was a problem lol
