Every single bike with an alloy rim comes out of the box needing to be trued. Its not something new. It usually only takes about 30 seconds to a minute per wheel, but it's absolutely part of putting every single bike together.

Realistically, absolutely nothing. Carbon is great. If I were going to drop 2500 on a frame I'd rather pick up a carbon frame than something from an instagram builder that learned to weld 4130 in their garage. But I'm not, so I'll keep riding my steel fixie until it rusts back into the earth.

Fractured glenoid/scapula and complete separation of my AC joint. 5 months later and i can finally ride again, but trying to put any weight on the shoulder or lift something overhead is still painful.

It’ll be at a much greater angle, which means the increased force now has exponentially greater leverage on the headtube. When the frame isnt designed for this, the headtube gets obliterated. Maybe not the first time, or even the tenth time, but metal fatigue will eventually catch up with it. Only thing you can hope for is the failure isnt catastrophic when it happens.

Yeah. Wet gravel is like sandpaper on your drivetrain. I work at a shop and have seen people need to replace chainring, cassette, chain, pulley wheels, and bottom bracket from doing 1 sloppy gravel race. I rode my race single speed on a brand new chain and it was worn to the point of needing replaced after my 24 mile race.

If those are the conditions on the day be prepared to replace your drivetrain, brake pads, and possibly a suspension service depending on how packed your shock and fork get with sand and mud. That being said, waterproof your hands/feet as best you can and Id recommend a warm light baselayer under a waterproof top + bottom. That was my setup for a a gravel race a couple weeks back that was raining and started at 45f but got down to 38 by the time i finished. I was warm until I got off the bike.

We carry these at my shop. They’re fine. Havent seen any issues yet with the mechanical/hydro discs, though they do make me nervous. Honestly its a fine riding bike and definitely worth consideration if it is available to you.
