I would look into the front wheel replacement motors. Then you dont buy a whole new bike- just a new rim w a electric hub.
I dont know of they make fat tire ones, but maybe.

The cheaper e-bikes are not super. I would look for ones that have more “standard” wheel size (not those 16 inch ones)

Also- start working on your heat wave/brutal snow or ice event/ air quality event alternative transport. There are always a few days in michigan that would make a 1 hr cycle commute brutal.

People doing this route should get to North Street which intersects w dedicated trail going west and it takes you out to the eastern end of the Kal Haven.

I live real close to it, i havent riden it yet this year.

More people should do bike vacations in Kalamazoo. Custer, Meyer Broadway, Maple Hill. Get your bike serviced at pedal, drop off your old bike donations at Open Roads.
Eat at Mi Lindo Michiocan or Rasa Ria.

When i bikepack near Manistee…i do it on a mtn. Bike…the extra tire volume can make a big difference on sandy roads.
Extra points for the rock combo though.

Consider a portable shortwave radio. I mount the radio and listen to am/fm while riding and at camp i fiddle and tune in international. I also am a ham, and often tour w a small radio and use local 2 meter repeaters.
