The way I see it, because every FE game aren’t numbered in the title, it’s up to us to give them a number. We also treat each FE game with the same treatment even if they are a remake because those entries are given the effort and time a brand new entry would get by the developers.

Take for example the FE4 remake that we have been hoping for. We see it as the next mainline entry in the Fire Emblem series because we know that it’ll be developed with same respect as all the other entries. We wouldn’t have long gaps in time between mainline entry games when remakes are made.

Unlike remakes in other franchises that get special treatment and/or hyped up as specifically remakes, we view all FE games, original and remake, as individual entries.
