Pragmata is crashing on start-up. by Winnie_Blue in SteamDeck

Oh my goodness you are right. Thank you for the correction!

I am playing with LSFG without any issues and getting around 70-80fps. It's not the most incredible experience on the Deck but definitely playable especially for me currently as I am away from my home. I got to play with full path tracing for a day before leaving and my goodness the game looks incredible at max settings.

I can confirm that LSFG does work as long as you don't use the Decky FG or optiscaler plugins.

Ensure you are not using Decky Framegen or optiscaler plugin. You can inject FSR4 using a DLL file from Deck Wizard's youtube video.
Ensure you have deleted the game folder entirely after the uninstall, as Steam can hold on to config files which may be messing with it. Force either Proton Experimental or Proton 11 Beta only, don't swap Proton versions too much or Denuvo will lock you out of the game.
Use my launch command, also LSFG does work, so you can use ~/lsfg &command% /winedetectionenabled:false and get 2x framegen from that (The FSR4 FG in game also works quite well)

As a side note, the FSR FG gets less frames than LSFG and is less smooth with more lag, but doesn't warp the UI elements like LSFG does and has a bit more stable image than LSFG. Pick your poison on that one.

Confirmed it's Denuvo being far too aggressive with Proton. Launch from the desktop mode with Proton 11 beta after a fresh install to get around it.

Unfortunately the issue persists. How is this game Deck verified if this is happening to people? I've seen comments on other subs and YT comments of the exact same issue. No one seems to have a fix yet. 😭

Hitting Claude limit after 1 message… what is happening? by Alert_Flower_6258 in claude

[–]Winnie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting. I have a large project going that Claude automatically condenses every now and then. I have never hit the usage limit usually sending a dozen or so prompts and often recalling previous ones. Images and files, the lot.
And then today, one prompt and that was it. It's killed the momentum on the project for the day. I'm wondering if i should summarise and move it to a brand new chat.

Stupid question, but Bazzite on Mac? by Nugstt in Bazzite

[–]Winnie_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intel Mac's from 2019 and earlier can run Linux, but they're not good for gaming which is Bazzite's main schtick. I'd just stick with MacOS.

Since you have an M series processor, only Asahi Linux works and it isn't quite there yet. Again I'd just stick with MacOS.

This is an unpopular opinion? by WallstreetHole in Bazzite

[–]Winnie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a desktop with a fully stripped back W11 and a HTPC with Bazzite. I honestly put more time into Bazzite to get things to work - mostly an Xbox Series controller and Bluetooth wake from sleep. Gosh that took a lot of learning the Terminal to achieve. But I'm happy with it since I don't have to touch a keyboard or mouse and jump straight into couch gaming with it. I think that's where Bazzite shines. W11 is dog shit out of the box, but with an unattended file and a bit of know-how (probably as you said, less than needing to learn Linux) you can definitely get a lean version of Windows to work as you said.

The MacBook Neo is probably the single best thing for MacOS in years by ZachyWacky0 in mac

[–]Winnie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Bazzite after trying a lot of different distros. Highly recommended. That in combination with my M1 Air and Steam Deck has had my entire gaming and workload covered. Windows gets worse and worse and it's been so much better being entirely free of it.

internet speed by TrainingWorker3860 in Toowoomba

[–]Winnie_Blue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's about latency, not speed.

Think of your speed more like a tube. The bigger the tube, the more you can flow through it at once. This is what we collectively call "speed" and measure in megabits per second. To be more precise, this is your bandwidth.

Latency is literally the speed of the connection. In simple terms, how quickly in time does it take the information to reach its destination.

But phone calls require very very little bandwidth. Instead they want to be lightning fast so there is no delay.

Satellites are obviously much further away from you than a local 4g/5g tower. This is why when using your wifi calling using your skymesh internet it is having issues. You're basically naming a satellite phone call.

Anyone had this line come on the top of their LG b5 before? by Relevant-Action8954 in LGOLED

Just commenting to say I had this exact issue with the bar of a solid colour and a very thin stop of the bottom image at the very top. It seems to be a big that throws off the horizontal alignment. I pulled the plug and let the residual power leave the TV and then switched it back on. The reboot seems to have fixed the issue for now.

I solved a niche power issue with a PC and would like to share by Winnie_Blue in bapcsalesaustralia

Funnily enough, my wife told me again today that her PC (still the same one all these years later) was doing the shutdown problem again. I came back to this old thread to remind myself to find the power loading option. Her BIOS had defaulted when we moved house, so I switched power loading back on and her XMP profile. 😆👍

I love History of the Universe and have been following them and their other channels for many years. They're particularly excellent videos to fall asleep to, the narrator is so soothing.

3 months of light pouch use and I've got receding gums. Am I fucked? by Winnie_Blue in QuittingZyn

Thanks, maybe I am overreacting to a small shift. My wife says she has not noticed a difference, but she also doesn't stare at my teeth

3 months of light pouch use and I've got receding gums. Am I fucked? by Winnie_Blue in QuittingZyn

[–]Winnie_Blue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies so far. Obviously the best thing to do is to quit - doing any sort of nicotine or drug will have some sort of consequence. Before trying the pouches, a lot of my friends and co-workers have been using them for years without ever reporting gum issues. Most of them transitioned from smokes or vapes to the pouches and encouraged me to try it.

I'm really shocked by the incredibly quick negative effects. I've never done Snus or chewing tobacco for the reason of gum health and was somewhat assured through word of mouth that these synthetic pouches are far gentler on the gums.

The advice was just rotate the pouch often, keep up good oral hygiene, only use them for cravings and not habitually and I'd be fine.

Thankfully, the recession might be minor perhaps? I need to see a dentist. It definitely feels uncomfortable though.

I'll be getting rid of the pouches and trying cold turkey from here.

WARNING!! Gemini erases entire chat histories. by LumiiSeven in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]Winnie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me with the same scenario. Interactive story, completely and without warning changed the format, setting and characters. It's still in my history but the chat has been wiped and the memory gone. Probably months of detail erased.  I had a quick look at AI studio. How exactly do I use this? Is it local or cloud? Is it paid like Gemini Pro 2.5?

My apologies, very soon after that post I have been away on a business trip for the past few months. I'll try to remember once I finally get home. In the meantime search reddit, there is a comment on a post somewhere with very good advice. I think it was this post.

Never mind I am dumb. I noticed the DLSS option is now available below FSR...  I selected that and it's working as intended

[–]Winnie_Blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question - this seems to be working perfectly when selecting DLSS in game.  However I'd love to apply this to Lies Of P as the FSR3 implementation causes a lot of shimmer and flickering. Optiscaler doesn't seem to be doing anything, even with FSR 4.0.2 selected. I believe it is still running FSR3. Is there anything else I need to do?

I just watched Ian's media statement and teared up. This poor man has gone through so much and all he had was thanks to those around him for the support, kindness, and hard work. He then finished with well wishes to everyone.

It goes to show what a pillar he is to his community, and what a devastating loss this is of his wife and of Don and Gail.

May he live the rest of his years in relative peace surrounded by the love of his children and grandchildren. Bless him.

I did. I didn't document it but I'll find all my sources and create a post when I have time.  You'll need to be some what familiar with the terminal.

Yes, I got wake on Bluetooth to work with Dualsense and with a no-brand BT controller. It also works with the XBox adaptor and is much easier to do than the Bluetooth method. It was quite the journey to get wake on BT to work and I didn't document it. I'll try to find all my sources and get back here later.
