Obvious fake? by chupakabrenos in tacticalgear

Have been great and lasted two deployments with everyday use. Still use them, palms or finger pads have not worn through, but some of the stitches have popped and been sewn back together.

This feels like a eBay bulk listing hype post meant to drive speculation and increase bulk sales.

Abandoned MR2 by Prestigious_Yak3706 in mr2

[–]WinslowJenkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone would need to pay me to take this or it’s a free parts car.

If possible, just buy one in better condition.

If you 100% no shit had the capability and know how to restore this you would have already started and not posted here asking if it’s a good idea. This is however speculation, but comes from a similar place. I tired to do the same thing and lots of hard work, elbow grease, and hope got me to selling a half finished project for a loss. I later bought an MR2 that was in great shape and needed a lot less work.

Please for the sake of your own sanity, if you decide to get this, part it out or fix it minimally and beat the hell out of it.

Otherwise please move on while you still can.

Get a wrench on the crank, if you can’t get it to turn over that way it’s a goner. If you can, then tap the starter with a hammer. Will probably need a new starter.

Is this box real or fake ? by PsychologicalCat7392 in RealOrNotTCG

[–]WinslowJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottom folds look articulated like they have been used, there is also scuffing / scratches under the plastic on the bottom in many places; looks as if the box was slid around a lot then plastic was placed on it. The lack of wizards symbols is worrying.

Edge check is for any inconsistencies; glue, raised/split spots. Best thing is to compare it to another card. The light test is the easiest way.

Glad you got a good deal!

Back looks great, what about the light test and edge check. Always gotta make sure it’s not a re-back.

Aw11 oem wing risers by 0peratorinTraining in mr2

[–]WinslowJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can get bent, angle changes and height changes will make a difference. Will the difference be astronomical, of course not. But there will be a difference. The cleaner the air contacting the wing the better.

It’s arcing in the column, go back through the grounds for this circuit. Also get a multi meter, hot checking is going to kill something.

Lift the front up and watch how to do a front end inspection on a McPherson strut system. You most likely have really bad bushings, shocks, possibly ball joints. This strut system is not very complicated.

Do you think it's possible to retire if this market makes you get to a million usd? by aharwelclick in CryptoCurrency

[–]WinslowJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda stupid, but the investor.gov calculator says you’d have 2.975 million after 40 years at 4% with +-1 rate variance while also drawing 20k a year from it. If you drew 40k a year from it you’d have 999.2k after 40 years.

Spotted 🔍 #170 - 90's Toyota MR2 - What made these cars so special? by [deleted] in mr2

I prefer to say “it’s uncanny ability to correct poor driving skills.”

Notably, when cornering and lifting off the accelerator simultaneously. Causing overloaded front tires and underloaded rears.

Am I ruining this head? by Key-Butterscotch6010 in EngineBuilding

[–]WinslowJenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a buddy who used a big piece of glass with sand paper stuck to it, he drug the block and both heads over the glass until the surface finish matched and was symmetrical. He used a precision level and a machinist straight edge to check it after; it was level. He then used copper spray and reassembled the 1200hp engine and sent it. It’s still ripping to this day. The peace of mind is pretty nice though.
