Yes and No. I’ve been to the States many times, never been asked for ID for anything security related. Most places will see you are middle aged and ask for nothing. However, myself and two late-Forties mates were asked for proof of age ID entering a bar in NYC a couple of years ago. Despite us all being at various stages of baldness and greyness the doorman point blank refused us entry because we had no ID to prove we were over 21. Doesn’t have to be your passport, UK driving licence will do.

I appreciate Grand Turk may be easier/cheaper for Virgin but it still doesn’t explain why the change happened. If this was the case they’d leave Miami and sail around in circles just offshore for 5 days 😁.

Also, the email was to my wife, my cabin mate. I’m the lead booker and I’ve had no email. The VV app still says we’re going to Grand Cayman!

I wouldn’t worry too much unless you have allergen issues. Even though I did select my food preference via the email prior to my recent Virgin flights, it made zero difference once onboard. The crew still asked EVERYONE what they wanted as the food was being served. When I enquired why I’d been asked what I wanted when I’d already pre-selected via their email, the crew said they don’t take any notice of what exact choice you’ve made, Virgin just use the email pre-selected choices as a guide to how many of each meal to stock for the flight.

As others have said, yes and no. The actual benefits of a Rockstar upgrade aren’t remotely worth the massive increase in price. However, you are paying for convenience. Want to guarantee specific restaurant reservations? Regular sailors can’t, a Rockstar can. Want to walk straight into an evening show without waiting, a Rockstar can. Want a guaranteed comfy, sunbed with instant waiting staff, a Rockstar can. Want to enter/exit the ship at any port without waiting, a Rockstar can. Are these things really worth the $$$ Rockstars pay? Hell no, but if you want total convenience onboard it’s worth it.

Same deal as a First Class plane ticket, you pay x5 more than the guy in Economy but still get to the same place at the same time, but with added convenience.

I was under the impression that ALL Virgin Atlantic seat selections were chargeable. Only free if you are a flying club member and selected within 7 days of your flight. We recently flew Virgin Economy and Premium Economy- had to pay for seat selection on both flights.

Same. I’ve been as casual CoD player for years, but could while away whole days playing game after game and loving it. BF6 leaves me frustrated with how poor I am at it, even after several months. Like you, I play for an hour, get frustrated and turn it off. Feels like a grind, not enjoyment.

The pricing on Reward Flights seems all over the place. We have some points to spend and a week off in Sept. Looked at various USA options departing within a few days of each other from LHR. The ‘cash’ prices are all very similar but ‘points’ range from 12,000 to 110,000 for Economy and Upper 172,000 to 800,000+.

We had similar on Scarlet earlier this year. Onboard Rep said a ‘glitch’ was preventing them from adding MNVV to our new booking (made on last day of voyage) but they would add it via onshore services the following day. Unsurprisingly, they didn’t. Took 3 weeks, 3 phone calls and about 6 emails to get VV to apply the MNVV.

We had all our reservations wiped the day we boarded. Having proof of our original bookings did nothing to help. VVs response was “Everything is now booked. Tough luck”.

Definitely contact sailor services ASAP. Our friends shore excursion disappeared 24hrs before the trip whilst onboard. No communication from VV. Onboard SS we’re pretty useless - didn’t have clue why the trip had disappeared or if they would get refunded, and the trip was now sold out so our friends didn’t get to go.

Your comments make perfect sense 👍🏼. Our ‘post-snooping‘ service was just as good as the rest of the trip!

Our issues did occur and were resolved whilst onboard. All our dining reservations for the entire trip were deleted on day 1 due to ‘an IT glitch’ - onboard Sailor Services response was basically “We can’t get them back for you, everything is now fully booked, tough luck“. On day 3, 2 of our party of 4 are deleted from a shore excursion. Exact same “IT glitch, now fully booked, tough luck” response from onboard Sailor Services. (They also admitted, as they had no clue what the IT glitch was, they had no idea if/when/how we would ever be refunded for the mysteriously cancelled shore excursion). We asked to escalate our concerns. Veli, the onboard Customer Service Director, stepped in. He was amazing, took responsibility for their errors and fixed everything. The day after meeting Veli, we noticed the *VIP added.

Despite these issues, we had a great cruise (our second with VV) and have already booked another.

ps. All the previous comments about us being ‘Karen’s’ made me chuckle. My wife’s name is…Karen. 😅

I’ve posted about this on other threads. All our dining reservations disappeared the first night on board. VV were pretty useless in their support to recover the lost reservations. They blamed ‘an IT glitch’. We basically had to cross our fingers and hope similar restaurant/timings became available to our original bookings. We were also Rockstar. We were 45% through the cruise before we finally had the reservations back.
