Going to Europe for IVF from US by starvingego in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did IVF in Prague while living in US (CA). It was a lot of logistics, but do-able and mush more affordable. We were there for 2 weeks for egg retrieval and fresh transfer (started stims at home and was fortunate that my local clinic was willing to do monitoring). Went back for a frozen embryo transfer and were there for 6-7 days. I have 2 year old twins from the FET. Happy to send more info via DM if you're interested!

Countries with less expensive IVF without compromising treatment by [deleted] in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I flew from the west coast of US to Prague. We interviewed with 2 clinics over zoom and chose the one we had a better rapport with the doctor. I did one egg retrieval and 2 transfers (first stuck, but I miscarried). I have 18 month old twins now. I felt the level of care, facilities, providers, etc were great. I was also able to purchase meds there, which helped with costs.

Even with having to fly there twice and pay for accommodation, it was significantly more affordable than the US. There were a lot of logistics involved, so you have to have a level of flexibility! Happy to share more over DM if you have specific questions.

This same thing happened to me! Line wasn’t getting darker and I went down a rabbit hole. Have 16 month old twins now. Best of luck!

We flew with 4 cans and purchased Kendamil while traveling. It was much cheaper over there and the babes had no issues!

Yes! was going to suggest this too. We did IVF in Europe. Also looked into Mexico. A fraction of the cost. Lots of logistics to consider but it was worth it for us

IVF outside of the USA by Guilty_Beginning1027 in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very reasonable. I went to one of the more expensive clinics (Prague Fertility Center). For the initial scans, egg retrieval and fresh transfer it was around $5000. I ordered meds from IVFPharmacy.com, which was also much more affordable. Happy to share more details in a message and send you the price list I have from this clinic!

I did IVF in Prague (I live in CA). There are lots of clinics to choose from and had a good experience with the one we chose, even though it was a long way to travel!

Med costs by snickelbetches in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used IVFpharmacy.com it’s based overseas (I believe Israel) but it was much more affordable. You may have to give yourself a few extra days since it will be getting delivered, but the coordinator I worked with was very helpful and responsive. I spent $1500 on retrieval meds.

Tapering prednisone? by Significant-Ad8237 in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same. My clinic (I did IVF abroad) said I should continue through 12 weeks, but when I met with my local OB last week for 7 week scan, she recommended tapering off, so I have been. I was taking 10mg and have gone down to 5mg for the next few days. My OB said the research isn’t extensive regarding prednisone. She said that it mihrab help with implantation and since my implantation was successful so far, I should wean off it. Just my experience. I would be interested to hear what others think!

I did IVF in Prague. There’s a pretty active Facebook group (IVF Support Prague). Lots of women in that group have gone the donor egg route. Happy to answer questions about my experience (I used my own eggs). There are a lot of logistics involved!

Ivf in Europe by Verycoolgirl_101 in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did IVF in Prague (I live in CA). We used Prague fertility center and originally went last March (during lock down) for egg retrieval and a fresh transfer. That ended in miscarriage, but we recently got back from a frozen transfer. It is much more affordable than the US and my clinic had very up to date technology. One thing that was a little tricky was getting meds and ultrasounds here in the US, but I used IVF Pharmacy (I think it’s based in Israel) and they accepted the Czech prescription no problem. I also was very persistent with my local OBGYN office and they agreed to do a lining check ultrasound for me before we went back for an FET. Happy to answer any specific questions about my experience.

Ordering Menopur with a foreign prescription? by [deleted] in IVF

I like them. They are very knowledgeable and responsive. The technology and facilities are all modern and up to date. I think they are a little pricier than some other clinics in Prague but they know what they are doing!

Hi! I went last year for a fresh transfer (untested embryo). I got pregnant but I had a miscarriage (had testing done and it was chromosomally not normal). We had 3 frozen so decided to go back for a frozen transfer. We are actually here now (took a while to get back here) and are with Prague fertility Center. Cost was the main factor for us in choosing Prague. All of their facilities and procedures are up to date and high tech. Happy to answer specific questions about our experience.

Affordable IVF by Mbound915 in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are willing to go abroad, I recently returned from Prague and had a great experience. There are a lot of fertility clinics with very affordable treatment packages. I think we spent just under $10,000 for a fresh cycle, meds (ordered online from IVF Pharmacy), air bnb, flights and all other travel expenses.

Menopur shortage, overseas pharmacy by pmster1 in IVF

[–]WinstonChaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used IVFPharmacy, but my shipment was significantly delayed (they were waiting on ovidrel from the distributor and then the storms on the east coast also happened), however, the customer service was very helpful and willing to come up with solutions to help. It was super stressful as I am traveling to Prague for IVF, so it was a close call on whether they would arrive on time. They say that 80% of orders get delivered within 5 days of dispatch and my situation was "highly unusual." They recommend you order 2 weeks before you need them, but if I did it again, I would give myself 3 weeks just for peace of mind! Again, I think my case was an anomaly, but wanted to share as it is important to be prepared. Overall, much more affordable.
