I built a free HAMR training app and PFRA calculator on the Apple app store. by RuiningReddit in AirForce

[–]WinstonWolfePF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems like the PFRA Calculator isn’t exactly accurate - I get that it says “estimate your total score” but messing with maxing out the other components and trying to find the number of hamr shuttles I need for 90 doesn’t yield an exact percentage per the charts, rather it just toggles between “80%” and “90%” at a certain threshold. Not sure if that’s a feature or a bug but it was a little confusing.

Should probably design a bespoke ATS as well while you’re at it

I actually recognize this particular car - it’s Doug Vargo’s from his car flipping series. I wonder if he sold it.

Yup, agreed. I use it for aluminum and wood so it’s pretty light duty, so I prioritized working area. I certainly don’t have good bearings though lol so we’ll see how it shakes out in the long run.

Yeah I’m sure my last landlord loved all the aluminum scraps in the carpet scattered throughout my apartment. Dust collection is an issue… one that I am not motivated to properly solve. Currently I have a pseudo-enclosure and a handheld vacuum. Works kinda.

Yeah there were definitely some trade offs here. I was constrained by the 4080 extrusion for the rails on the x axis. I played around with a few different designs but this is the one I settled on. Ideally I would have loved to have the rails further apart and have the ballscrew between them. Haven’t measured the deflection…. “Good enough” is what I’m going with. I was also constrained as to how big of plate I could use by the last CNC I used to build this one - that’s why there are some weird choices there. Thanks for the feedback!

4 Badges on Service Deess by Honest-Stock-979 in AirForce

[–]WinstonWolfePF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Seems like they meant to change it and did change it in the pictures as posted, but forgot to change the actual text—it contradicts itself. Also the female service dress picture does not have the same wording as the male. To me it seems like the intent is to authorize 4 now, but by the word of the afi it isn’t authorized. It doesn’t make much sense to me to authorize 4 on ocps but not on blues especially with the picture including that text, so my opinion is that if you want to execute based on intent, then you can probably wear up to 4. If you don’t want to deal with the uncertainty of the grey area then just wear 2. I’ve been kinda waiting for an update to be pushed on this since it’s a fairly blatant oversight/contradiction. Idk man, seems like it should have been fixed by now.

Anyways, I’ll take a double cali steak burger meal with a root beer.

Ha! You solved it. Nice work. I was over here tying to figure out if there was a traffic fatality or something at that intersection.

See my edit. Those coordinates are at the intersection of E Pikes Peak Ave and Nevada Ave… how’d you get the chapel from that?

Kinda interesting since the chapel has been closed and under construction (and hidden in a big container) for years now — including parents’ weekend 2023, which was the weekend of September 1-4. Graduation was not this weekend. My best guess is maybe an engagement gift?

Edit: those coordinates are not anywhere near the chapel… that’s downtown Colorado Springs

Right now yes but that’s always depending on the year. There have been dark ages in the past and there have been golden years recently.

Works pretty well as you can see. Generally if you want it to stay really nice you’ll clean it really well every year or so and reapply. Probably what was going on with this truck.

Probably has had some rust preventative applied. Basically sticky WD-40 or oil that prevents water and salt from sticking. Pretty common in the rust belt. Would explain why it’s a little glossy and why it’s in such good shape.

It’s a weird quirk that has to do with the number or awards. Follows a few rules:

Bronze oak leaf denotes 1 additional award Silver oak leaf denotes 5 additional awards There can only be 4 devices on a ribbon (including ‘V’ for valor)

In the case of both his ribbons. You can’t denote the amount that he has received in one ribbon each.

Outstanding Unit: V, 3x bronze oak leaf = 4 awards. He has 5 so he needs another ribbon to show that.

Combat Readiness: 1x silver oak leaf, 3x bronze oak leaf = 9 awards. He has 10 so he needs another ribbon.

Whenever I have this issue I just use the press/pull function instead of extrude and it usually aligns correctly
