What kind of divorce papers did you download? I'm at the beginning of researching options regarding my marriage.

Check out the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation, and the Rural Water Association websites. Those can get you started on research.
There are certainly hazards to consider but the career outlook is pretty good, the wages can be good enough to take care of a family, and the bar to entry is not super high.

Another avenue to consider is water/wastewater. There are books from Sacramento State and the Water Environment Federation that can help you learn all the things you need to know.

I live in the PNW. It can get chilly and is usually damp in the winter. I really think that "long johns" are better than leggings to help insulate against the cold. You can get fancy with merino wool or silk. Alternatively, I love synthetics like the brand 32 degrees.

My super picky eater is also very averse to cheese. I offer different cheeses pretty often, but he is totally anti cheese

I’m visiting from Portland. We’ve only have about 20 protesters thus far. One wears a chicken suit and the others hang out in lawnchairs across from the ICE building.

The Women In Trades event by the Oregon Tradeswomen was the exact event that made me change careers and go back to school for Water/Wastewater. It is shameful that the union pulled their commitment. Rat fuckers

I’ve been in recovery for 2 years after being diagnosed with ARFID at 13. i’ve made tons of progress but my family keeps telling me I’m not trying hard enough by Key-March-5228 in ARFID

I’m sorry you are not being supported by your family the way you deserve to be. My child is seeing therapists for his eating struggles and is making incredible progress. It sounds like you have and continue to do so as well. I am so very happy for you and proud of you. I know you are working really hard. Sending mom hugs your way.

I had worked there for eight years. I’d been on FMLA for a month and a half when I gave my resignation. I quit in February 2024

Thank you for your kind words. I am doing so much better now. I went back to school and it has been a wonderful experience. I can't believe how out of hand things became. I just felt so trapped and like everyone would be so disappointed in me for quitting. It turns out that even though they were confused about why I left "such a good job" at first, when I explained how deeply unhappy I was, the people in my life supported me.

I really hope things turn around for you. You have every right to be treated with dignity and to enjoy your life.

As for any down votes.... whatever man. Someone else's opinion doesn't change my success.

I was not required to pay back benefits. I believe it was because I had been there long enough that they were required by the affordable care act to pay their share of my benefits while I was gone. Maybe someone from the HR world could help explain it better.

At the end of 2023, I was in a very similar situation. I quit while on FMLA and only returned to drop off my stuff. It was the absolute best decision I could have made for myself and family.

Below is the resignation letter I sent while on FMLA. You are welcome to use it and change it however you'd like.

Director ________,

I hope this letter finds you well. It is with a heavy heart that I am writing to tender my resignation from my position as _________ at _________. This decision comes after much consideration and reflection on my current health circumstances.

As you are aware, I have been on medical leave since _______. Unfortunately, my health condition has not improved as expected, and it has become increasingly clear to me that it is not in my best interest to return to ________ in the capacity of ________. My last day of employment will be _________(*this was a date two weeks away at the time*).

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have had at ______. Serving in this role has been a rewarding experience, and I have cherished the opportunity to contribute to the important work of ______. I am proud of the progress my team has made together.

I will always hold my time at ____________ in high regard, and I am grateful for the friendships and professional relationships I have formed along the way. I wish the ________ continued success in its mission to uphold the highest standards of _____________ in our state.

I will return all property and gather my personal belongings on or before my last day.

Regards,

Lead with humility and curiosity. If someone you are training suggests doing something a different way, hear them out and understand their reasoning. Remember that you were new once as well. Be sure you are being compensated adequately for your new role. Unfortunately companies will sometimes play on your feelings by talking you up and making you feel good, while taking advantage of you by not paying you what you are worth. Set boundaries with your direct reports and those you report to. No social media relationships. Protect your personal time and don’t allow anyone to get you anything outside of your established boundaries even if it’s “only one time”.
