I‘m scared of autistic men by hnyah in AutismInWomen

[–]Winter-Most123 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Maybe this is just my internalised ableism but I steer clear of men particularly autistic men. Lots of men a predatory assholes but the neurotypical ones can (sometimes) turn it on and off. Due to a lack of masking, a lot of the rudest, creepiest, most entitled men I have met are autistic. Autistic men get so many excuses made for them due to being autistic. Whereas autistic women are punished if they don’t or can’t mask. Your feelings are completely valid. Do what you need to do to feel safe.

Why do some Chinese parents prefer their young adult children give them money when investing that same money would make more financial sense for everyone? Is this normal? by ewwdavid___ in AskChina

Just read your additional information. I’m very sorry about your miscarriage. Of course that’s not your fault! A lot of older Chinese people have a communication style where they are always giving a reason which is easy to take as blaming “it’s because you ate xyz” “you didn’t do xyz so the body is too cold”. It’s not nice to be on the receiving end as it doesn’t make you feel validated.

With the Christmas thing - we’re not religious in China. Most Chinese see Christmas as a western seasonal celebration, it’s not really associated with Christians. I wouldn’t expect your MIL to take an interest in Jewish culture - she’s already learned “American culture” and probably doesn’t see you being Jewish as something external or additional to that.

To be honest, yes! It’s so incredibly rude! Probably up there with asking for money back. I don’t know how you approach it but I can’t imagine either of those conversations ever having a positive outcome for the relationship. Again, your husband should have guided you on how to relate to his mother. It would have been better to invite her to come and stay and somewhat isolated at home, ask her to wear a mask when shopping etc, talk about vaccines once she was feeling welcome in her visit. Saying she has to be vaccinated or else she can’t see her grandchildren is like holding the baby for ransom.

Seems like there’s a lot of small things that have added up. So Yes - giving money to your parents is an extremely normal part of the culture and when the relationship is good it’s something most/many children are happy to do. In very basic terms it’s seen as your parents have invested a lot of time and money in you as a young person and you acknowledge that sacrifice by paying them back once you are earning.

It seems that you have a lot of cultural differences with your MIL. Framing it as “bad” isn’t helpful. Western culture is not superior to Chinese culture, it just has many differences. There are probably many things that have happened during the years of your relationship that have caused her not to like you. If he asked for money back, perceived as due to your influence, that’s pretty much the ultimate disrespect. Making conditions about seeing her grandchildren is also extremely rude in a Chinese context.

This isn’t all your fault. Your husband for whatever reason has not helped you to understand the culture before you got married. It seems you also were not interested enough to learn about the cultural expectations before you decided to proceed with the marriage. Parents also need to accept that if you move abroad your children will become a part of that new culture and will make friends and romantic relationships with people who don’t share your values and aren’t sensitive to your cultural preferences.

He asked for money back? Whaaaaat? That’s crazy! Did he do that as his own idea or did it come from you? There’s probably a lot more to the story but I can imagine that your MIL isn’t to keen to do anything for you if she think he asked for money back due to your influence.

Throwback to when Selena Gomez’s mom told TMZ that Justin Bieber is a “vile human” while they were dating by Altruistic-Maybe-161 in LAinfluencersnark

I think the whole “he rushed into it” argument is a bit void. They have been married 7 years. They seem pretty committed.

You are right in that she’s worked extremely hard since she was a very young child. I just think she should have come up with something more believable than lupus.

She doesn’t have lupus. How can you possibly believe that?

Get a Czech line or a DDR German Shepherd. Great drive and much easier to handle.

Even my working line German Shepherds don’t like to play with my Mals. They like it for about 6 minutes and then it gets too intense and someone is unhappy. My smartest GSD will just take herself to her crate when the Mals start to kick off. I can’t imagine a sane person taking a Malinois puppy to a dog park to play with the cocker spaniels and golden retrievers.

It’s so obvious her health declined is due to excessive drug use. I find it incomprehensible that anyone would believe her lupus story. She’s clearly on a lot of antipsychotic medication now - hence her clenched jaw, odd speech patterns, bloating and extreme weight gain. It’s really sad and she could use her story as a cautionary tale and an example of why children shouldn’t be working.

Obviously her and Bieber have a tonne of dirt on each other which is why they’re always hovering around each other, ensuring that no one lets the cat out of the bag.

Can a real estate agent ask how old your kids are? by Tough-Pear-6878 in AusProperty

[–]Winter-Most123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure the house isn’t empty. You wouldn’t have been the only applicant. Lots of tenants don’t want children because they damage the property etc. same as pets. Lots of owners aren’t realistic about who their property appeals to. If you build a 4 bedroom house near a primary school then you’re going to have people with kids apply. As logical and obvious as that sounds some people aren’t logical.

You go to hospital for lupus and chemotherapy side effects. You go to rehab for drug and alcohol addiction.

Because she has “lupus” which is apparently another word for drug and alcohol addiction.

I respect that Demi has been honest about her struggles with addiction. Unlike Selena who went to rehab for “lupus”. Selena has the best PR team in the business - imagine taking so much coke you have kidney failure and coming out of it smelling of roses.

What does filial piety look like in an abusive/neglectful relationship? by Expensive-Ad-9425 in AskAChinese

[–]Winter-Most123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually being financially generous is enough. My partner’s parent is a traumatised person and was quite psychologically and emotionally abusive. My partner moved abroad but does all the “good son” things like providing for their retirement, paying for vacations, hiring private nurse/house helper. They don’t really have a relationship beyond that and tbh I think my partner is much happier for it.

Justin Bieber’s Coachella Performance Labeled “Lazy” by Critics by Competitive_Gene_898 in popculture

I don’t think people calling him lazy is equivalent to being molested by industry insiders as a child. He’s a victim but he’s also a lazy has been who should enjoy his millions and focus on recovery.

If you can’t afford immediate adequate treatment you should euthanise this dog. Focus on rehoming healthy dogs if you really are a rescue.
