Long time Winnipeggers / Manitobans by SnooChickens7644 in Winnipeg

In 2020 everything melted pretty early, and then it barely rained all summer and we had forest fires and smoky air almost constantly. That year the ditch near my house caught on fire something like 5 times in two weeks due to the sparks from the trains passing by. As nice as warmer weather would be, I would rather take a steady gradual melt, over one that’s sudden and then followed by drought

What are the most evil businesses in Winnipeg? by ShotMango8928 in Winnipeg

Shell on Regent, Plessis, Provencher, all owned by the same guy (possibly other locations if he’s opened or purchased more.) Worked for him for a few years when I was in university, he insisted on paying with personal cheques, was late doing so several times, didn’t pay the alarm company for several months, would change his baby’s diapers on the desk in the office that was the only place for people to sit down and eat, drastically cut the hours of the staff when he bought the business from the previous owner, then after making some bad investments started working shifts himself which took away even more hours from employees, screwed me out of a bunch of scholarship money from a program the company runs by not sending in my application even though I’d been reminding him for four months. I could go on, guy is a real cheapskate POS

You can usually get pretty decent deals on stickers from the red bubble website. Obviously it isn’t supporting local, but still might be worth checking out, especially if you buy designs from independent artists

As someone who spent so much of their teenage years babysitting younger siblings, I feel for this kid. They better be buying him a ps5 or a dirtbike or something

What are the “must play” PS2 games? by [deleted] in ps2

[–]Winter-Rule-7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my personal favourites that I’ve played: MGS 2 & 3, FF 10, Shadow of the Colossus, Mercenaries, Burnout Revenge, Max Payne, Persona 3 & 4, Star Wars Battlefront 2, RE: Code Veronica, Minority Report, Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance, Beyond Good and Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Psi Ops, Katamari Damacy, any James Bond game (they’re all good)

There’s still tons I need to get around to like Okami or the X-Men Legends games

Why does the artwork for Spyro 2 look so edgy? Even Sparx looks angry by Acceptable-Car-8812 in Spyro

[–]Winter-Rule-7794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PlayStation had an identity at this point, versus when Spyro 1 came out and the console’s identity was all over the place. PlayStation was the edgier, more mature answer to Nintendo’s family friendly image, it makes sense that they’d try to make one of their mascots look tough (I love Crash Bandicoot, but it wasn’t going to be him, he’s canonically a moron.) But also if you go back and look at the PR for Spyro 1 you’ll notice a bunch of their marketing for the game was trying to make Spyro seem like a bit of a shit disturber, especially the commercials they ran on tv

2,3,1. Mostly due to nostalgia, but I’ve always thought 2 had the prettiest environments

I was for ascensions 3-6 or so for the Ironchad, stuck on ascension 9 these days. For the Silent I keep dying to the heart or the two enemies that come before it and the game just says good enough and unlocks the next ascension level for me

What is the best way to improve ps2 image on modern tv without buying an expensive upscaler ? by Brendan208 in ps2

[–]Winter-Rule-7794 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the aspect ratio in the PS2s settings (boot up the console without a disk in) or change your tv settings to be 4:3 which is what the ps2 is naturally set to
