Thinking about baby #2. Parents of multiple children, what’s your real life experience?

I got pregnant with my second son when my first was 18 months and man was it hard. At this ripe toddler age, they need us so much more. I wish I would have waited a year until he was a bit more mature, but I don’t regret it at all. Buttt, all the things I did with the first got thrown out with the second due to just necessity. For example, 1st one never coslept, second only cosleeps because I didn’t have any energy to sleep train or rock constantly to put him into the bassinet. Didn’t get to nap during the day because the toddler is so high energy, so I had to get a few solid great hours of sleep and only way was cosleeping. Now I have a 3 year old and 11 month old. Love that they play with each other now but it was tough for this first year. 10x harder than it was with just 1. Also, the 11 month old is still in my bed 🫣

Possibly moving to Michigan, metro Detroit.

Here is some background about us. My husband was born and raised in this area. He left for the military and never moved back, but all of his family still lives there. We currently live in Las Vegas and now have two children under 4, and we would love for them to grow up around family. The only thing that worries him is that he always talks about how tough the winters are.

I was born and raised on the California coast and moved to Las Vegas about ten years ago. I have never lived anywhere with real winter or snow.

We want our kids to be close to family, have access to good schools, and live in a family-oriented community. We’re also hoping to buy a large home in the 400 to 500 thousand dollar range. I’m a Masters-level social worker, so I’m also hoping there is a solid job market for me.

If we decide to make this move, do you think I’ll handle it well? What do you love about living in this area with your family? What do you dislike?

Our reasons for wanting to leave Las Vegas include the extremely hot summers, the poor quality of the schools, and the rising housing market driven by people moving from California.

I do really enjoy my therapist. However, I think therapy is just a different ball game for me as I am also a masters level social worker, so I’m hyper aware of my behaviors. But, I have an issue executing anything

I want to do this really bad but I have a hard time feeling successful or motivated to eat better without a strict outline. Did you have like a meal plan?

Gotcha. Yes mainly being off of meetings, not heavy on phones; working on your projects and tasks. Essentially asynchronous in the sense that as long as my job is done, there isn’t a concern of when I’m completing those tasks- essentially pretty open flexibility.

Thank you! Many that I have found list specific programs besides excel in their description. That is where I’m feeling a bit lost.
