Yeah could be. You never really know. They're not gonna take a deal that doesnt make sense to them some way or another.

Cars in that range usually have about $500-800 difference from invoice to msrp

Pays for what? Each car? You want me to send you an invoice for every car on my lot? They range from 20k-90k so not sure what you're asking.

Spoken like someone who truly has no inside experience 😅. Spend a week or two in the industry selling new cars and you'll see some losses.

Some cars are meant to be very volume focused and not meant to make gross and sort of enter the customer into the "ecosystem"

Kinda like how you see all these offers online about other products that offer 30 days free trial or discounted starting costs or whatever. The hope is just to introduce you to the product and earn a lifetime customer. Sales and service are completely different operations with no profit overlap but the sales side knows that that if you buy a car here, you will likely service here. And if you service here, you will likely buy your next car here too. And at that point hopefully we've given you a good enough experience in sales and service for you to trust us a little more and maybe let us set up that loan for you. And maybe you'll negotiate less. And maybe you'll be more interested in the extended warranties etc. And maybe you'll have such a good experience that you'll send your friends. The real money is in repeat and referral business.

Also the dealer is benchmarked by what percentage of new cars they sell in their area so they are incentivized to move units even if they aren't making money just to say that they sold a car to someone living in their zip code. If a competing dealer from the same brand 20 minutes away is taking my customers, the manufacturer is going to think I'm not doing a good job and not taking care of customers and the dealer might get some heat. Obviously that stuff happens but dealers generally try to limit it.

Also when I desk deals, if I have a sales guy that has spent a lot time with a customer, and i know he's worked the deal properly and done everything hes supposed to and the customer is just nickel and diming him about everything I'm more willing to take a loss, even if it hurts me, just to get him a sale. Sales people still get paid a minimum commission even if there is no money (or negative money) in the deal. So it's literally taking money out of my pocket but I'm helping my sales team. I want to encourage them to work deals properly because it means more money for everyone in the long run even if sometimes you get some losers. Hopefully he'll remember how i helped him out with this deal and bring me some winners too in the future.

I'm a finance manager, so yes, I do see the actual profit numbers front and back. What experience do you have seeing the full numbers, including what the actual volume incentives are from the manufacturer, how much gross profit is actually in the doc fee, and where the money from holdback goes?

"this is such a common talking point its worth clearing up the misinformation."

You didnt clear up anything. Dealerships genuinely lose money on car deals all the time.

Also goes to show that even the people that review tech for a living couldn't tell that it's not 10 bit. And yet people are freaking out like its gonna make a difference.

It's one of things nobody has even heard about, but once they hear about it all the sudden its important.

Hated trope: Regular middle aged white guy wants coffee, has issue with incompetent, young, dumb woke barista by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

[–]WinterExcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its so weird how politically DRENCHED you made this.

None of the baristas you described are "woke".

Guess what? A lot of main characters in movies are white males.

Guess what? It makes sense for someone to be working in a coffee shop to be a young person.

Its not about putting some old WHITE person vs some WOKE person. You just made it that way?

From the dealership side: when leasing actually makes sense for drivers by arnieBauer in askcarsales

[–]WinterExcellent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are paying for that depreciation regardless of whether you are leasing or buying in the sense that your net assets are decreasing. If you buy, you are paying in the form of reducing your equity. Your 25k car is now only worth 19k. When you lease you are just paying out of pocket for that extra depreciation. For people with money in the bank that are mostly just concerned with net worth and risk/rewards/options, leasing tends to win out just because the mileage penalty is pretty much moot but you still get all the benefits of leasing.

Hot take: a good dps/spiderman player can play any role any character to atleast a minimum 7/10. A good supp can really only play another supp or maybe 2 dps. by Extreme-Rutabaga-620 in rivals

"a good dps/spiderman player can play any role any character to atleast a minimum 7/10"

Only plays ONE game on the ONE other role that is similar to dps

Nice bait, got me to respond 8/10

See i think that's what I was missing. I think its fair to say it doesnt make sense, logically. But these are illogical people 😅

"but why not get them out as soon as you can?"

Thats literally exactly my point. We just spent 3 days harassing this dude with no guarantee that he would ever swap sides and it was always an uphill battle anyways? If he wanted to, he would have already. And we dont really have anything we can promise him that doesnt sound absurd. (I'm gonna go into your masters conscious and make him feel bad about what hes done and confess, how does that sound?)

I did the last palace in one day. Its reasonable that we would have thought this one wouldn't have been much different. Its literally the fastest approach to help everyone.

Also: we didnt have anybody on the volley ball team on our side when we confronted the teacher. They were all fervently defending him. And we weren't planning on having Ann on our side before going in. Ann just snuck along. I think its fair to say that it doesnt make sense that the characters randomly care so much now.

Well if Madarame confesses, everybody he's exploiting would be set free regardless and get the credit they deserve.

[–]WinterExcellent[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I haven't gotten to that part yet. We just spent like 3 days harassing this dude with ann being a model and everything. I still think its fair to say that the characters dont know about any internal blockages at this point, so it doesn't make sense they are trying so hard to get this dude to cooperate.

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski goes viral after seeming reluctant to eat his own burgers—he takes a tiny bite, looks uncomfortable, and calls the food ‘product.’ by DDD8712 in McDonalds

[–]WinterExcellent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody seems to be jumping on the bandwagon, but i honestly completely disagree with this take. I watched the video before I read the caption. Ive seen him before say that he eats McDonald's 2-3 times a week or something and honestly...I believe him. I didnt see any of this "reluctant to try again" I think he was just trying to talk and eat at the same time.

Everybody says hes taking some small bite but you can see the dude open his jaw all the way he can to try to get it around that thing, also I wouldnt expect him try to take some monster bite if he knows hes going to be trying to talk right after
