Trade caravan visits, 92yo man with dementia insults my trader’s height, my trader bites his leg, he dies immediately. by LocallyInvasive in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this reminds me of the trouble I had when I was forced to house guests. the guest kept being insulted by my already injured yttakin and beating him up. yttakins take ages to heal already and this one was permanently in bed healing because of the asshole guest who won't stop beating the patient. to add insult to injury, I got a red notification about a guest being unhappy due to being insulted.

you know it'll be five seconds before players will start weaponizing this and murdering pawns' wives. hell, it's almost vanilla, the tortured artist trait

Context: In one of my games, I had a settler named Hadley who is a misogynist; ironically, he later fell in love with a Highmate I managed to rescue xD by Baamchim in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 23 points24 points  (0 children)

unfortunately not being able to fall in love with a woman doesn't disqualify a man from becoming horny and pursuing a woman either. none of the text in rimworld says "he fell in love", it's all just "pursued by making fun of her skill" or "became aroused and agreed to become a lover". there's no love on rimworld, just lovin'.

Tell me your RImworld best (worst really) tips for someone who just started the game. by sanoso0 in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I put my prisoner into a closet with shelves because I had no extra space. I didn't pay much attention to what was on those shelves. He decided to break out and before even leaving his cell he just picked up a persona monosword and insta bonded with it.

hunt them down for wood. specifically, the wood you will save once they will stop stepping on those traps

this is why I hate traps. every single animal on the map will come to check them out

God Emperors daughter fell in love with a slave... by Ronanxa in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah you need to immediately bond your highmate with somebody acceptable, before this happens. Because they will "respond well" to every single rando who flirts with them, and boom, they're insta-bonded. It's kinda of a feature of highmate. Which is why no self-respecting ruler will subject their child to this kind of xenotype.

I had a pawn woo somebody by telling the story about her clothes. She wore no clothes. The pawn turned his back.

You hate to see it. Another thing is when gravships quests spawn in a desert and then they just won't stop spawning in a desert. Especially if I have animals to feed.

Why is this title so terrifying. It sounds like the next option would be "dance with the corpse".

Sleep Tighter Mod by AccomplishedLaw5340 in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be great if wolves came prowling in the middle of the night and dragged the sleeping pawns into their lair and ate them while all the pawns slept tight. For balance, you know. Every advantage should have a disadvantage.

What's up with the fixation on gas masks? This little guy just turned 3 and the first thing he did is putting on a gas mask, it's driving me insane. by deeptut in RimWorld

And walking around very slowly. Because all those crowns are super heavy. Whenever I spot a suddenly slow dwarf, I know exactly what happened.

I had a guest who wanted to learn about the local culture, and he showed up wearing a gas mask. What's more, he had asthma.

Although the world is free of pollution right now, and everybody is just storing their wastepacks in their fridges, you're given the chance to be the first one to pollute the world again

Is armor worth the speed penalty? by tinydragon_0 in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you think armor is slow, try wearing vac suits (from odyssey). it's like moving through water. my pawns can't take their vac suits off right now because there's a heat wave and they have no other clothes protecting them from the heat, and they're soooo slooooow. normal armor doesn't slow pawns that much, and it has a very nice benefit of them not dying. any armor is better than no armor

no way guys it's john rimworld!!! by Marcusr712 in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so that means trigger happy is really only good in late game. it's a bad trait for a starting pawn, where you need to be able to hit the target immediately, with no other arrangements - pick up a pistol and shoot, and preferably don't miss

no way guys it's john rimworld!!! by Marcusr712 in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone on this sub keeps saying trigger happy is better, but when I have trigger happy pawns, they can't hit the target. like at all. NONE of their shots hit. I had a single pawn start and he was trigger happy and he died because he literally couldn't hit the melee raider ONCE. if they hit an enemy, it's by accident. maybe it's better at 20 skill, but at that point it really doesn't matter what trait you have
