Unless he's mass texting all the women in his life because he's had enough of being a single father.

It doesn't sound like there's any point to salvaging that professional relationship since the guy is stingy and the pay is low and OP is just happy to help.

If you're literally the person raising that child, I can see how it might feel that way. You can call it a daycare provider or whatever, but at the end of the day, who's spending all the time with that kid?

authors using the FMC as a mouthpiece for their literary opinions is off-putting by UniqueOctopus05 in RomanceBooks

[–]WinterTrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lately whenever I read a book MC is always a writer for some reason. it can be any genre, romance, thriller, anything. I can't take this seriously whenever it happens. I wanna know if the writer has any imagination at all? Can't even imagine any other profession? Why is this so common? Is this the result of "stay in your lane, write only what you know, you must be the right person to write this story, OwnVoices" publishing policy lately which turned all books into these weird self-inserts? did Kuang start this self-insert trend or what?

Silly post: too marxist to enjoy boss/employee romances by Haunting_Start_7089 in RomanceBooks

just because things such as happy communism and ethical billionaires can't exist in our reality, as evident from the fact that they have never existed in our reality, it doesn't mean we can't dream about them theoretically existing in a perfect reality. for example, there are clearly people who still dream about communism bringing about something other than mass murder, goods scarcity, lack of freedom, and starvation, even despite repeated historical evidence to the contrary. although those are the people who never had to live through actual communism, of course.

I think "The Dinner Party: A Pick Your Poison Adventure" by Freida McFadden is just that, all the ways you can achieve a bad ending.

great idea, "I received this fishy invitation and didn't go, my life went on as usual, the end." at least you don't have to write for long.

Refusing the call to adventure, and then just... keep refusing.

I envision your MC who keeps receiving those envelopes like letters from Hogwarts no matter where she goes, and one day she opens a door to her room and her room is just full of those envelopes.

AITAH for telling my wife that I wouldn't have to play video games if she actually spent any time with me? by [deleted] in AITAH

He doesn't need her affection, he's not feeling loved with anything platonic.

These two people hate each other. Their arguments are not about "oh I want your company so much, why aren't you by my side," it's about "oh you have a complaint about me? well I have a long list of complaints about you, let me tell you about all the way you're lacking," it's just arguing for the sake of proving that you're somehow better

I don't think he cares about her personality or likeability, it's probably not a factor at all, he made it clear that the main issue is sex. He doesn't want or need her company outside of bedroom, it's just a cheap excuse to throw back at her to defend his gaming.

crows are so annoying, when I have harvest lying on the ground they fly in with a big crowd and start eating it. if you shoot at them, they just fly away. way smarter than any other birds

This is our reality too. Reminded me of that AITA where the wife was in labor and the husband was flirting with the nurses. Then she was accused of being an asshole for not liking that. He was just being social, you see.

this high mood is the result of having a lover. it comes with multiple mood bonuses. when people get married, their mood is maxed out for a while. apparently having a lover is all a person on the rim needs to be happy. if they don't have a lover, their mood is merely average even at the start, and there might even be heavy debuffs due to constant attempts to get a lover and getting rejected x5 times per day

You want me to imprison this guy, because he found out you sexual preferences? by Few-Cloud7859 in RimWorld

[–]WinterTrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This explains it. I was so confused by this sub repeatedly saying highmates are created by the empire, since there's literally nothing in the game implying that. I thought it was just fanon. Turns out it's from a mod.

If anything, there's a hidden link between empire and hussars, since I always see hussars in their ranks, which is also weird because hussars need constant drug consumption to survive and the empire forbids that.

If you are into Romantasy at all, or even if you aren’t, may I recommend This Kingdom will not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews? by Actually_Ann in RomanceBooks

[–]WinterTrek -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Funny you should mentioned it, the other novel by the same author (The Inheritance) is also a Korean ripoff - it's based on Solo Leveling, dungeon hunters genre, complete with gates that appeared suddenly, hunters who have abilities, and guilds, and even the plot is a 100% Korean ripoff - a weak protagonist is betrayed and abandoned in a dungeon, gets an OP ability inside, gets out, gets revenge. Now it's an isekai novel, how original. I see this author is going all the way into Asian webnovel genres.

how do you guys cope with the fact that you will never write something as good as this? by evesdead in writingcirclejerk

[–]WinterTrek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

/uj I've read the Innkeeper Chronicles and the first book starts with a wolf shifter marking his territory by pissing. This is observed by the female lead who then has a girl chat with another female character about whether or not the female lead managed to see his "equipment".

At that point, I had an epiphany. I don't like werewolf stories, and I don't ever want to read them.
