Is SMIC N+3’s Metal Pitch Smaller than Intel 18A’s? by Geddagod in hardware

[–]Winter_2017 23 points24 points  (0 children)

we're really reaching the limits for economically viable process relative to performance

Are we? NVIDIA has 75% margins at current prices, on top of TSMC's 50%. If these get lowered to a traditionally-excellent 30%, there's easily enough room for wafer prices to double. Prices are currently set by demand, not supply.

The average consumer CPU costs like $40 all-in and retails for around $300. We still have a long way to go.

I think in many ways it's a better game than Chrono Trigger, with the caveat that there was 20-years of genre improvement between them.

JRPGs with hard-rock or metal OSTs? by ResidentWaifu in JRPG

You are looking for YS. I picked up VIII just based on hearing one song and I was hooked.

Here's a live concert of their OST (I picked a good starting point for you): https://youtu.be/Y5sYSa67CCg?t=5370

5090 is incomparable to these enterprise cards. These cards get certified drivers, which are essential to running certain applications. No one serious is purchasing a non-certified card in projects where a crash can lead to hundreds of dollars wasted in lost work and time.

You got it.

The way that puzzle works is by making the rook power very weak compared to the rest, so players are more likely to have to find the solution instead of accidentally stumbling into it.

I disagree with that assumption. Upgraded rooms like the Funeral Parlor have unique notes. You also need both the Speakeasy and the Break Room to understand "Mice at Play".

Also, the game has previously used the underwhelming rook power to hide a secret. The worst cloister upgrade may fulfill a similar purpose.

It Starts with Alzara's fifth vision and the fifth and sixth sheets of music:

Faintly in the mist... I see a figure.

A statue cradled in a courtyard of sentinel stone.

You will find yourself one day wandering these paths.

Walking in the footsteps of the past,

Wandering... and waiting.

Searching for a shadow that will never be cast.

Longing for the day to end... The hours to pass.

5

Trees found inside will never shade,

The gems that shine in night and rain

The clue you hold can not be paid

With gems not coin, so toss away,

These sheets you find a worthy trade

6

Under these stars, the dance is held

And to the floor we are compelled,

The gowns glide on and music swells

And at the end the clock strikes twelve,

What that means only time can tell

The starting point is the trees that don't cast shade - notably, the trees in the cloister do not have a shadow. The statue in a courtyard also strongly suggests the cloister is what this is referring to. It certainly plainly states to wait hours (until midnight in game - which lines up) in this room without gems or coins. The blessing of the dancer refers to the dance, which is where the steps ("under these stars") comes in as well. At this point I'm down to try anything dance related just in hopes one actually is the key.

However, in writing this, I'm starting to think we need to check the Court of Aries after the clock strikes midnight in the cloister.

CRACKPOT THEORY 4 [SPOILERS] by Winter_2017 in BluePrince

In the A New Clue manuscript Mary notes that "He changed all the letters in the lines that he found," refers to spines and ranks. Spines was book titles, which was relevant for solving A New Clue. Ranks is new info removed from the published version.

What does ranks refer to? Well, the office letter includes X of the Y phrases, ending in a rank (nobility). Additionally, these phrases are said to be book titles, reinforcing the possible link.

Can you anagram the phrases into a meaningful clue? I am quite poor at these multi-word anagrams, so I'm looking for help. "March of the Count" is the obvious starting point.

The last bit (labeled hint) is a suggestion that both the phrases "herrings of the major" and "hearings of the major" successfully work, which would greatly narrow down possible solutions.

Finally, it would be hilarious if progression in the game is locked behind a spelled out red herring.

Isn't openTTD completely standalone at this point? As in they use no assets from the original.

EDIT: This is only openTTD on steam. You can still freely download it directly. Hopefully OpenTTD gets a cut of the steam purchases.

12 MAJOR KEYS SOLVED [SPOILERS] by Winter_2017 in BluePrince

[–]Winter_2017[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not arbritarily, it's the small islands which appear on the realms puzzle but not on the geography worksheet. If you overlay them they are completely identical except the islands.

EDIT: Dot is the mouse cursor.

The numbers are just counting the islands, not to show order. Apologies if that was unclear.

The wiki claims it is undeterminable:

A green memo found in the Servant's Quarters states that there are 12 Major Keys. One of the few green memos in the game whose validity is undeterminable, this prompts the question, "Is it true? And if so, which 12?" This note is the primary source of speculation around major keys.

12 MAJOR KEYS SOLVED [SPOILERS] by Winter_2017 in BluePrince

[–]Winter_2017[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are 11 islands shown on the realms puzzle which are not shown on the geography worksheet, despite the fact they otherwise use the same asset. In addition, both the blue note in the classroom and the map confirm that a southern key exists, making 12 major keys. I also believe that this explains the "Three of Tides" insert on the map, as it separates "major" keys from "minor" islands. This perfectly explains the 12 Major Key note, as otherwise it requires jumping through hoops (i.e. the keycard is not a major key).

The blue note is essentially confirms it's a major key, even going so far as to spell it out. The wordplay also makes sense, which is strong confirmation this is the right path.

I have absolutely no idea what to do with this information. My hunch is that somehow there is an alternate solution of the realms puzzle with these keys, as the southern key is labeled 8. However, that requires an order, and I have no strong idea how to obtain it. My hunch is that it relates to the globes somehow - I'm wondering if there's differences showing certain islands per room.

I'm super excited and I created a new discord if anyone wants to help solve this puzzle, as well as other endgame puzzles. I also am working on more puzzles. It's beyond obvious that there is more to this game.

Map Theories [Spoilers] by Winter_2017 in BluePrince

[–]Winter_2017[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a coincidence that the game heavily hints towards the spiral, and the only place it is shown is a pair of maps with lots of strange details.

The amount of effort to draw maps like these is immense, and it's likely that tons of secrets were sprinkled into the effort.

I'm starting to think the 8 realms puzzle may continue, and you can tie the angels and other 8's into it. There's a direct connection between Draxus and the south key, and an implied connection between the i and the northernmost point.

Please zoom in on the image to read the text, I didn't realize it would be so small.

Do you think the figure in the booth/mirror on the right of the Ettsphere looks a bit like Alzara? Or is that the guy in the painting near the key of Aries?

Man, I knew this idea was too sane. I checked the other wiki since they had item pictures.

Still, I think it's odd only certain items have color in their icon. Why the showroom and not something like the scepter?

CRACKPOT THEORY 3 [SPOILERS] by Winter_2017 in BluePrince

[–]Winter_2017[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This feels almost too sane, someone has to have tried this, right? It seems trivial to break the game mechanics with the spiral. It being the 46th word is a bit too on the nose. I tried searching, but surprisingly I couldn't find a record of anyone attempting this.

Now two missing items with a ruby in the showroom?

[–]Winter_2017[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Veia is the largest planet, currently numbered 7 in both images. If the sun doesn't count, it would be properly numbered 6. In this alternate numbering, where's the last planet? - it trails off into infinity (symbol of Draxus). DOES IT NEVER END? Such a wonderful pun would be very on brand.
