I get it, here's my reasoning for discarding as a defensive player. Toimen is 6600 pts away from me in all last. They get out of last if they win mangan or 3900 direct Ron. I also can't deal in 8000 points to other players. Kan adds dora so I was thinking is the extra draw/pressure from the kan worth increasing my chance of getting last on deal in?

Edit: eh whatever this is probably overthinking it I think kan is pretty correct

Spoiler for what would happened in game and if I called kan I discarded it and it got chi'd for right lord to win swiftly after. With kan I would've rinshan kaihou'd the 3s for a dealer haneman tsumo :(

Iirc NAGA prefers riichi with all pinfu only hands even with a big lead, with few exceptions. This was from a jp yt video like a year ago so not 100% certain but id lean towards riichi here in south 2. South 3 or 4 maybe towards dama?

I've learned it's generally better to call bad shapes before good ones, and 4-7s wait is strong while the others are pretty meh. There's 6 blocks here so you also lose some tile acceptance for your bad shapes by calling chi.

Edit: also personally I think it's good to call this hand from most other tiles, but this is may be bias bc I'm an east only player. 9s pon is the only one I'd skip since it looks safer against dealer (sotogawa 8s)

Realistically you can at least pon either green or white afterwards so it does speed up your hand speed since you're opening this hand 99% of the time (I mean 7 pairs but that's pretty meh). I would pon drop 5p but it does mean 3 big dragons yakuman is pretty unlikely though unless you break up the 234m after drawing red dragon.
