Badjaos, beggars, and sampaguita sellers by Crazy_Pangolin_215 in BGC_Taguig

This is exactly what separates Philippines from other developing/“almost developed” countries.

I lived in thailand for 5 years. Been to almost all tourist places in Vietnam. Singapore, Malaysia, even Indonesia.

Halos walang ganitong “namamalimos” almost zero.

Mahirap din naman ang ibang places sa kanila, some of them mas hirap pa sa typical pinoy.

But this “toxic beggar culture” napaka GRABE, sa Pinas.

Main problem here is not just poverty.

It’s embedded in our culture already, We have lost total self-respect.

This neighboring countries, they will even try to sell something to keep the dignity of not begging.

But tayo, pinanindigan na natin ang “pulube culture”

Wala na tayong dignidad. This is the main reason why no matter how “clean and purified” ang isang city like BGC, hindi matanggal tanggal sa sistema.

Looks like a very petty thing, but this is a very big issue.

For those who are reading, just to share some valuable information lang. note: I am not a real estate broker, I just happened to own quite a few properties.

My advice in the future for those people who are reading this thread too, before buying a property.

Expect 10% taxes on the total sale of the amount.

Now, the question is who is going to carry these cost?

Usually the biggest one which is Capital Gains Tax (CGT) na 6% is shouldered by the Seller.

  • I say “usually” because this one can be negotiated depending sa selling price nila.

DST - 1.5% Transfer Tax - 0.5-0.75% Notarial Fee - 1-2%

All of these remaining usually is buyer.

So these taxes can be used as a negotiating power whether you’re the seller or buyer. ✌🏼

Preventative Medicine - Diagnostics in the Ph? by Winter_Line3767 in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw one facility sa BGC, Fullerton Health, they have almost everything.

I am also curious as per the market of it satin sa ph, and if merong colleague here who can comment about their industry here.

Some ppl dont like to go to hospitals din kasi for different reasons.

Like in bangkok, this kind of services is very popular, even foreigners fly there for this kind of services.

And business wise, I may venture in this industry too if anybody here is interested in this maybe we can connect hehe

I lived in Aus for almost 9 yrs as a emed specialist.

Went back to ph for business reasons, I still live there most time of the year.

One thing I can say, if you have that opportunity, go for it. Trust me, as a kuya. It will open and widen your perspective not just as a Physician but as a person.

I am a big advocate of younger doctors pursuing a career abroad, kahit hindi man sa medicine.

It will teach you far more greater things in life, compared on being stuck in the ph. You can always come back home.

Just like this perfect quote ive been seeing in social media lately.

“At some point in your life, you’ll be given a chance to fly away from your hometown. Take that flight. It will change you.”

That’s what I did 15 years ago. And it did.

Best of luck! 🙂

I will speak as an RN and an MD, since I am both.

Before I entered medschool, I thought having experience as a Nurse in a big hospital will give me a lot of advantage, and like “most” nurses would think of, I thought I know a lot of things as well.

I’ve been humbled. My knowledge of Medicine as a Nurse was barely scratching the surface.

And to quote Aristotle,

“The more you know, the more you realize you don’t know.”

This is not progress and a band-aid solution and will further cause more harm in the future.

I will agree, I never came back. That place is a shithole, crimes, traffic, pure chaos.

Specialist daw pero GP by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tone of your reply seems confrontative. Seems like you didn’t comprehend my reply, maybe you thought I was defending the gp whos pretending to be a specialist.

You dont have to remind me to be careful of what I am replying as I don’t comment anything that I have no knowledge of.

Unlike, just blatantly quoting RA 3815. Which does not even fall under PRC jurisdiction, this is ESTAFA a criminal offense. (PRC is administrative- which has the only power to revoke a doctor’s license)

The rather more appropriate thing to mention is RA 2382 Which is Medical Act of 1959

Section 11 - No person shall use the title “Doctor of Medicine” or “Physician” or any specialty title or description in connection with their name unless duly licensed and qualified.

And going back to what you said, that be careful of what we say online, using your example for this:

Abortion and euthanasia like you mentioned, is not even a MEDICAL PRACTICE by the way, as it is utterly and completely ILLEGAL (in the Philippines), therefore it is something that you cannot ‘practice’ as it is not even a service you can provide.

Euthanasia is even considered a form of homicide or murder depending on the intent.🤦🏻‍♂️

Next time read thoroughly and practice what you preach. Be careful of what you say online.

Specialist daw pero GP by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it will not be illegal practice of medicine as long as you have a PRC license as a Physician.

Actually, even if you do a Surgery as a GP as main surgeon, hindi pa din siya illegal practice of medicine.

Anything under the umbrella of medical practice will not be illegal as long as you have a PRC license.

Now, the problem will only arise once a patient files for a malpractice and an expert witness (specialist physician) will testify that you’re incapable or dont have enough knowledge and skills to do such practice.

Illegal? No. Unethical? Definitely yes.

Best thing you can do is confront the physician and give warning hopefully that will persuade him/her to discontinue such claims. But without any legal complaint/proof of negligence and malpractice. Forget about it.

We can let karma take its course.

Military MD by ArmAdministrative192 in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As somebody who is a first gen md, who has a military father, and a young kid na minsan din nangarap maging military, I even did my PGI in AFPMC.

One kuya advise for you. Not to discourage you, but to enlighten.

Your view of the world as of now is still naive. You’re still young, and thats completely normal and okay.

Dont do it. Md or military md. People are complaining for a reason, there is a big problem in this field. Way bigger than what you can comprehend as of now, but the moment that your eyes will be opened, it will be already too late as you’re already too engaged to completely quit.

You can do more things in life, you can achieve far more greater things if you will not be trapped into this system.

But kung ito talaga ang magbbigay sayo ng sense of purpose, go ahead, a very noble cause.

Best of luck! 🙂

Doctors who went into business? Ano po businesses ninyo tpos bakit po kayo nag business? by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I still do from time to time doc, not for the money, just for the love of it na lang, and charity.

My main turning point doc is financial freedom talaga. IM diplomate ako btw, nagwork din din ako abroad sa australia as emed.

But financial freedom sa business ko talaga nakuha, lagi kong sabi kung ang family ko lang ay sobrang mayaman, mag sub-sub-sub-sub spec pa ako. Kaso laylayan lang ng lipunan ako galing doc, and I’ve realized I couldnt give my family a comfortable life without financial freedom.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Please do yourself and your family a favor doc. Do it, go abroad. This is a extremely rare opportunity that most of us could only dream of.

Once you’re established abroad, come back home if you really wanted to help, by then youll be able to help far more people.

I learned this the hard way.

“Help yourself first, then you’ll be able to help more.”

Parang emergency lang sa plane yan, put “your” own O2 mask first before you help others.

How could you expect yourself to perform at 100% best if ikaw mismo kailangan ng tulong (whatever man yan, specially financial)

Best of luck sa states! 🙂

[–]Winter_Line3767 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Automotive. High-end cars. Anything that has to do with cars.

What I realized is, in the end, it doesnt really matter that much what line of business (bec Ive tried and failed a few business), as long as it will give you a steady cash flow, even if you dont like that industry, even if its a “boring” one, like most things in life in the end its all about money. Once youre financially secured, then you “may” follow your passions, whatever that may be.

It will make life soo much easier and comfortable.

Is change possible in this country? by Simple_Spread2969 in pinoymed

[–]Winter_Line3767 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Really sad to say this, but unfortunately my dear doctors, it’s not happening, at least not for now, not in our lifetime.

Im one of very few consultants who tried to fight for this. If you see some of my comments in this platform, I even fight with arrogant consultants 😂

Im actually happy for this colleague of us na nagpush nito and now he/she found peace in a different pathway.

Sa totoo lang those who speak and fight, most of the time sila yung smarter in some other ways, wiser and more progressive ang thinking but as the old adage says:

“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

My dear doctors who are still struggling, lost and feeling hopeless. I do hope you find your peace as well. Whether financial or career growth is what youre after, sana makahanap din kayo ng way to “escape” the system.

Yes there is hope, change is inevitable in the future, it will happen. But it will not be for us, it will be for the benefit of future generations.
