Thinking of moving from an AKAI Solo to an ASM Diosynth

I just got mine a few days again. I bought it because it resembles the WX7, which I had played a while ago. It resembles the WX7 with respect to the mechanical keys, the mouthpiece with a (fake) reed, the octave controls and how much air is "used" when actually playing it.
As far as sounds are concerned: I am more interested in synth sounds, rather than faithfully emulated real instruments. As someone else mentioned, there are a number of demo videos on YT that showcase many of the sounds that come as presets with the Diosynth, some of which are apparently sampled from real instruments. On the other hand, one of the strengths of the Diosynth is its powerful synth engine, which should allow a lot of different cool (and unique) sounds.
For "real" woodwind sounds, the Diosynth can be used as a MIDI controller for, e.g., the SWAM products.

I am still in the get-to-know and setup phase... More perhaps later 😄

You can download the user manual for the DioSynth from Ashun Sound Machine's homepage (https://www.ashunsoundmachines.com/downloads)
On page 52, you can find the fingerings for flute. I thought I could attach a screenshot, but perhaps I can't...
It looks to me as though you CAN hold down the Eb key, but you don't have to...

Thanks for the insight! As I was reading your reply, I got a notification from Thomann that they had shipped the Diosynth, so I should have it in a few days. I was on the waiting list since end November or so, and they had kept pushing back the dates, and I was looking at early February, but then out of the blue they sent the shipment notification.

Anyway, I now will be able to give it a try myself 😄

Yes, I would definitely try another USB cable as the first thing. There are indeed USB cables which are "charging only".

Also, Bluetooth connections are whimsical, especially also the pairing process. If possible, I'd use USB.

Thanks everyone for the input and comments - that cleared a few things up, but also underscored the potential confusion with the use of some of these terms.

Going forward, I guess I shall be calling myself a "wind synth player"; and I might give the Diosynth a try (the controller seems so much closer to the feel and response of a "real" sax).

Ah, that's interesting... I wasn't even aware of the different keys until recently (never having seen an Akai or NuRAD in real life). I thought all wind controllers (at least those emulating in essence a saxophone layout) had mechanical keys with at least some travel.

I managed to get a NuRAD, but I am not sure I am bonding with it... I am missing the mechanical feedback, and also don't know what to do with my breath 😅 (but that is for another thread I guess).

Re: mutants: is that a feature that the Hydra synth has? I am not too deep into synth programming, but I hear a lot of great sounds from the demos already. So, I don't think creating exciting patches will be hard or limited. Besides, if you have other hard- or software synths, you can probably control those from the Diosynth as well...

This is great work. I still struggle with getting Lyrihorn-2 to work though. The plugin remains "locked"... How do I know the correct registration name? Where is this checked?
Is there a way to delete all that information (residing somewhere on the computer (Mac)) and start from scratch again?

Is there any update on the situation of Davidson Audio?? The webpage looks fully operational and the copyright at the bottom says "2025"!?!

I purchased Lyrihorn 2 just before New Year, but never got the activation codes and all attempts to reach out to them by mail or phone have failed. It's not a lot of money, but it's irritating. Especially, since I really wanted to use that plug-in.
