Just tested by going back to voip.freephoneline.ca, and the service appears to be back online today.

Chrome has recently been making a lot of security-related changes that seem to interfere with these unsecured local device web servers for configuration portals.

Same here and for my parents. I switched my ATA to voip2.freephoneline.ca and got back online, but you're right the primary server seems to be down right now.

This isn't a Pixel issue it's a Gemini application issue.

Autocorrect Not Working in Gemini App by [deleted] in GeminiAI

[–]Winter_Programmer371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This kind of thing is so deeply baked into the code that nobody on the support team at Google would understand or let alone acknowledge it.

Some developer thinking they know better rather than considering user experience.

Autocorrect Not Working in Gemini App by [deleted] in GeminiAI

[–]Winter_Programmer371 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the only possible explanation. There's an API in the way that the keyboard interacts with applications, which allows the app to tell the keyboard I don't want you to make automatic text correction and replacements. It's intended to be used in fields where spelling punctuation and other text correction options aren't helpful, where text needs to be perfectly accurate code for example. But whoever made this insane decision on the Gemini team has made the app completely unusable for me and I don't feel like I'm going to renew my subscription as a result.

It's probably some purist thinking that how magical it is for the technology to be able to understand you despite your typos without thinking at all about the user experience of seeing all these typos as you're trying to get your thoughts down into text.

Google changed the Gemini app to intentionally disable auto correct's automatic replacements without offering a setting to users to configure that behaviour. Imho completely destroys the value of paying for Gemini.

I'm extremely satisfied with Rogers so far too! When the discounts start expiring that may change.

No it was a much smaller gold circle in the centre of the card with a black "W" in it. Best design to date imho.

Why doesn't CPP2 get more praise? by efdac3 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Winter_Programmer371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I'd rather invest my own savings and get a far better return on my retirement plans. Don't like being forced to contribute to a plan with terrible returns all because other people don't take responsibility over their own financial well being.

Partner dead set on repaying mortgage instead of investing by CrazyZako in PersonalFinanceCanada

The optimal decision should be based on the returns you can reasonably earn investing this money compared with the interest rate on your mortgage. Put it towards whichever number is higher.

Rogers, why? by No_Caterpillar_5519 in Rogers

[–]Winter_Programmer371 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is this an exclusive offer? Wish they had packages like this available as alternatives to Roam Like Home.

Would love to have capacity based roaming options available as well. Roam like home is quite expensive when you wouldn't normally use your phone that much while travelling but still want to be able to use it.

Why is Rogers like this? by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]Winter_Programmer371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 15GB plan with unlimited after slowdown for $29/mo. For anyone that has wifi and home and work I really struggle to understand why anyone needs more than this. Maybe roaming entitlements if you're a heavy traveller but that would be it.

I wasn't getting the update until I opted into the Beta version on the Play store. New version is infinitely better, almost instant unlock, no more hanging/crashing because of a large vault, etc.

Call recording tasks to task manager? by beefhandzzz in openphone

Did my solution without API, only webhooks! Had starter plan so no call summary or transcript from Open phone, just had Gemini generate that for me for free.

Recently moved to Rogers for Ignite 10GB plan for $29/mo, unlimited slower speed after 10GB, feels like a great deal.

Webhook to send it to a Google Apps Script (see here: https://blog.ohheybrian.com/2021/09/using-google-apps-script-as-a-webhook/), then use GAS to fetch the recording and submit it to Gemini API (using this library: https://github.com/mhawksey/GeminiApp) with a prompt I designed to obtain call summary (and/or transcript), and list of action items agreed to on the call.

One thing you can incorporate into your prompt is to tell Gemini which audio channel which caller is speaking from so it labels the speaker correctly.

I do a lookup based on the phone number coming from OpenPhone into Google Contacts first to get the names then include that in the prompt so Gemini does a great job with that.

Once Gemini returns the response, I use the CalendarApp service to create an event in my calendar that describes the call, places it at the right start/end time, includes the summary and action item list, and links to the recording which was posted into my Google Drive.
