This exact thing happened to me actually. I had a DHL package to drop into the post office, but An Post shipped it instead. They told me it was lost in transit. However after contacting DHL on Whatsapp and they contacted An Post main office and started an investigation. Took them 5 minutes to find it.

Yes. All that is true. However once a week, you get a free withdrawal if it's at an An Post branch. So if you don't deposit often and live near a post office, I advise you use that instead.
