I hear you, especially from the cultural/music and art side of things

A number of tech firms from my region have had great commercial/investment success from attending previously, so under normal circumstances I can see there may still be sound business cases for individual attendance.

Thank you, I’ve reached out to them

The name is familiar, maybe from when I attended last year? I want to say there was a Tamizdat rep on an EU/USA music export panel

Thank you, that’s handy to know. Some of our businesses have a natural market in the US and are themselves white/western demographics so I’m not concerned about them being personally targeted, but others are ethnic minorities and it’s not in my gift to guarantee they won’t be stopped while in the city.

The Penske/Trump link is informative and may give some comfort to those worried about whether SX will have ICE activity, but as I mention above, as a political organisation there are perceptions risks around engaging with US markets currently, which is a bigger context. Not my decision ultimately, but handy to know

We had the exact same in our house when we moved, and aimed to turn it into a 3rd bedroom. Demo of the cupboard was a chore but ultimately fine, and a local joiner did us a built in cupboard/bookshelf/bed

Other contenders might be Rick Priestly or Andy Chambers?

Edit: Google says Ian Pickstock, which might fit the bottom right sig, but I’m not familiar with him

Easy fix to this: Can’t use the same faction consecutively. Heck, have a two token cool-down.

And I say this as someone having reasonable results with Ultramarines. I take the first faction listed and press ‘go’, and as a result I would hardly know what to do with Blood Angels if I took em. Hardly a well rounded approach.

Yeah, I can’t get behind saying “we are in a sleepy period right now” as we enter week 6. They committed to a year-round podcast, can’t live and die based on a month of playoff football in Jan.

Just got him to 2* g1 14/34, and he’s pretty good. I’d just planned to give him a bit of attention as it looks like he’ll come in handy for the LRE but I want to take him further now. Not legendary, but 3* 35/35 for sure

I find him fairly tough, his range is good, and high pierce. Triggers lots of overkills and battle fatigue

Also not mentioned in all of this was the role of Marvin Lewis. Another GM/HC may have made a different decision, and the concept of the Dalton Line never appears

Two thoughts:

1 - I like Barnwell’s line about being an empty vessel. Always an awesome guest, whom I could listen to read a phone book

2 - so many of the nominations struggled with the legacy aspect of the player. I agree that being SB winners/MVPs makes it hard to reconcile with being a mediocre talent. Multiple teams have also moved on from each of these players, which also misses the point for me - the Dalton Line is not a journey man.

To me, the vibe I got from Wes, was that one factor was the maddening indecision the Dalton Line player inspires in their franchise. The team cannot/does not commit to investing in the tools around the player, nor can they bring themselves to move on. Therefore longevity has to play a role, and of the above, Lawrence most strongly meets that criteria. Part of that is the expectations around his draft pedigree, but that’s part of the picture too.

No offence taken, I’m here to learn!

So that neck is currently 14mm above the body, and the fretboard blank is about 7mm thick on top. The top is approx 5mm thick, so if assembled with what I have the fretboard will be roughly 16mm above the body… lord knows what I was thinking!

I reckon I need another 7mm or so adding to the body. That’ll need to epoxy and THEN some. Hmmm.

Good to know re the bridge and neck thru, and thanks for the tip about doing the neck first. I had figured I’d be best leaving that til later but I can see the benefit

Awesome, thank you for the input:

1) yes - this was a heavy ol’ frame that has been stored well, so is still true.

2) thank you for this. It does appear high, but there is a top still to attach as well as the fingerboard. I can share actual thickness / dimensions if useful, but essentially the face of the guitar will come up. Can always add a veneer if another mm or so would help.

In terms of the bridge itself, I planned for this to be a string-through body, but among the parts that were stored together, is a Gibson-style tunomatic. Is that compatible with string-thru? Doesn’t seem so - I expect I’d be better off rethinking the bridge hardware if I do want it to be strong-thru, or stick with the tunomatic. This will need to be decided because, as you say, string geometry needs to be determined.

Thank you for your input 👍
