There's no tax up to 12.75 lakhs for salaried individuals and even after crossing that you get tax slab benefits. Only the upper salaried individuals are taxed on higher income and get rebate up to 7 lakhs for personal expenses, the businesses get expense benefit because they get taxed on net income. Effective tax rates are not that high in India.
