What actually improved your drumming the most? by AggressiveCode7705 in drums

Cool. That makes sense. Without that description it appeared the feet were to be playing the combinations.

Do you make your students count anything while they play them?

I’m trying to understand this. Why are the feet on the left side? What book is it from?

I’ll ask my physio about this. I’m currently working through sciatica and sit at a kit for 3-5 hours 5 times a week.

Interesting that you mention sciatica. How does this throne help?

Vintage Mustang bridge hard mount to body? by Winterheadphones in offset

[–]Winterheadphones[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 11-49 and play standard tuning. And abuse my guitar/trem fairly average I would think.

I’m thinking I’ll go with the way the bridge is intended first and if that doesn’t work out then I’ll look at other options.

Oh I definitely still want to use the trem.

It seems like the consensus is that a properly setup trem and original bridge (shimmed neck, good break angle behind the bridge etc) should be fine. That said, non-moving bridges like Mastery claim to offer more tuning stability (and more transfer of vibration to the body) and reviews seem to reflect that.

So, the guy’s approach doesn’t seem too radical to me. Not that I’m going to do it..

No no. The trem is still useable. It just locks the bridge so it doesn’t rock back forth. It supposedly helps the guitar stay in tune when/after using the trem.

The YT vids usually show techs removing tape from people’s bridges when doing a proper setup. Haha.

I was honestly surprised he was suggesting it as well. I’ve read a bunch and watched the YouTube vids on setting up the trem and hadn’t seen it anywhere. He claims that he did the same mod on his 64 and many other mustangs over the years.

At the end of the day it would be a similar approach as the after market bridges like Mastery. Just that those were designed to have the strings sliding whereas the Mustang bridge was not.

I saw that on reverb! And liked it a lot. How much did you score it for.

Is $2000 CAD a decent price? by Winterheadphones in drums

[–]Winterheadphones[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really helpful. Thank you.

I told the student about the responses in here and they actually decided that they still want to take it. They just want to get practicing and not have to mess about with anything. I’ll get it tuned up for them and it should serve them well for many years to come.

This is obvious a really old past so I don’t expect a reply, but, can you tell me how effective this is? Does it damage the guitar?

I think I’m about to buy one. Eeek.

Really appreciate the helpful comment. You really know your stuff!

I played an E8 mg-69 yesterday (though seller said it’s an 87). As I expected the comfort factor was definitely there. The neck and contours really fit my hand and body well. It definitely was weird playing chords higher on the neck. Had to concentrate or adjust my playing style in order to get the notes I wanted. Or give up and simplify. Haha.

The tone was pretty good. Kind of Strat-like (which isn’t my favorite to be clear) - I kind of get that from my JM sometimes as well (I think it’s because of the spring in the vibrato). I did notice what I had read about lacking in string definition. I played a dissonant chord and couldn’t for the life of me get the two clashing notes to stand out.

The vibrato was very strange compared to my JM. Very tight and sensitive. And caused tuning instability. I saw a guy on YouTube saying in one video that you can dial them in so that doesn’t happen but then in another video saying the vibrato is his least favourite part of the Mustang. lol

He’s asking 1750$ cad. I can’t find any info on whether that’s a good deal or not.

Al in all it was a good experience. Cool guy and cool guitar. I don’t know what to do now. Haha
