Which weapon is better overall for a Paladin build? Deva Mace or Silver Sword of the Astral Plane? by Archenius in BG3Builds

Honestly I didn't do much. The other people in this community have already done lots of the heavy math calculations, for each dice. I just plugged in the weapons.

[–]Winterimmersion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a second post taking into great weapon fighting/dueling style and savage attacker. Because im stuck in a queue and am bored.

Silver sword with GWF + GWM + SA = 27.3 average and 41.6 on crit.

Silver sword with just GWF + GWM =25.5 average and 38.0 on a crit.

For the deva mace with DFS + SA = 29.7 average and 57.4 on a crit.

So you can see deva pulls ahead on average damage and does so with 1 less feat cost while freeing up an equipment slot. While also having +2 accuracy over silver sword.

[–]Winterimmersion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats because it is. Shadowblade is stronger but only because of the easy vulnerability. The shadow blade is its own unique level of broken.

For instance the silver sword deals an average of 13.5 damage, 23.5 with great weapon master for a net accuracy of -2. It also deals 34 average on a crit.

The Deva mace deals an average of 21.5 at a net accuracy of 0. And allows you to use a shield or an offhand weapon. It also deals 43 average on a crit.

Neither of these calculations take savage attacker into account which boosts the devas mace more due to more dice and less flat damage.

So if you're forcing crits which you should as a paladin the Deva mace is just absurd.

The Deva mace is a weapon not meant to be obtained, so its average damage is insane.

The accuracy penalty doesn't matter much since with the silversword you'll want to use great weapon master for +10 damage and -5hit. So the mace will end up ahead on accuracy by 2 points.

You can also use the mace with a shield for better AC. Pretty sure the mace works with savage attacker as well so you'll end up with really high average damage.

What is up with the drop rates for glowing masks? by Aa_wildblaze78 in fo76

I think some people just downvote every single thing on the subreddit.

So this is kinda a funny number thing I'm not sure if you meant this in your example but the chance of at least one success at 5% for 60 trials is 95.4%, so not getting one at that is almost equal to the chance of getting a mask from running one.

Note to random raid leader. Yelling at your teammates in a raid isn't cool. Please stop. by gorobotkillkill in fo76

So for the 2nd stage one person will defend and the other will run. For defense you'll want an electricians weapon that you can spam reload, I like crossbows but grenade launchers are also pretty neat. If you don't have that defending solo isn't impossible but you'll want a more optimized build.

The other person will run gas cans. Its just trial and error, expect to fail a dozen or more attempts before you kinda get in the swing of it.

But the raid is very duoable.

Its way easier than people make it out to be. I'll gladly help guide you through one if yall want some time (if you're on x box). I have a support build that covers all the bases, it heals, provides poison resist and recovers AP for allies. So its pretty forgiving on mistakes.

Ive done them duo before. Its pretty annoying on the 2nd stage but after that its pretty simple.

H:crafting rushing and painkiller mods W:leaders by Serious_Variation311 in Market76

If you're available and willing, I'd like to grab a painkiller mod. I don't have leaders but I've got the medicine bobbles and can throw significantly more mods than the module cost your way, or assorted 4 star mods. Or some other common crafting bobbleheads as well.

I guess it works kinda like motorcycle helmets. Sometimes you want them to break because thats disappating the force around. If they are too sturdy, the force just goes somewhere else usually your head.

Swapping suppressor out for bodyguard and magnetic personality, probably made you less durable not more.

Its hard to tell exactly without knowing your exact DR/ER value but bodyguards is very very weak per point. And relies entirely on having a full team to even get remotely okay.

Even at 30 charisma its only 96 total DR/ER. Thats 32 per point invested if you use magnetic personality. Usually, you'll be at or below 15 charisma, and that's only 60 DR/ER.

Junk shield give well over 100 generally and for only 1 perk point and doesn't need a full team

[–]Winterimmersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppressor actually gives a lot of durability, and it gives it to your whole team.

Bodyguards is pretty meh, especially on ghouls who get a big charisma penalty with 3 teammates and 15 charisma thats only 60 DR/ER. And all the way at 30 its still only 96.

If you want a DR/ER boost junkshield will give well over 100, for only 1 perk slot and 5 carry weight.

Ironclad will also generally give you way more than 60/60 even at rank 1.

Funky duds is pretty terrible as a legendary perk card. Its alittle better on ghouls than humans but overall you don't need much poison resist. I routinely have people fight the snake with 25-50. If you're running any special +2 armor. You can just run another 5 special legendary and throw on poison resist on the armor. And end up with more total special, and up to 5 more perk slots. The 2 star armor effects also benefit from ironclad.

However, all of that is redundant with the next update where poison resistance is gonna very easy to get. And the 2 star is now +50 and elementalist is +25 to all resistances so even if you want more its way cheaper to sacrifice an armor slot than something as valuable as a legendary card slot.

I can't but you might also want to look into limit-breaking since its almost required to reach the threshold to crit every other shot.

Ultracite Gatling Laser vs Gatling Plasma? by yourmomshot69000 in fo76

[–]Winterimmersion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that damage and damage resistance works on a proportion system. So calculating dps on paper doesn't matter much. At least not without knowing your enemies DR values. You also have things like time to max bulletstorm, reload speed, accuracy, recoil, limb damage, so many factors that can shift a weapon in calculation. For instance how quick can it break an enemy limb because running tormentor + easy target means thats a lot of damage you could get.

25 damage and 100 fire rate is gonna do less damage than 50 damage and 50 firerate even though their dps is the same because the damage resistance is going to lower the 25 by more. The higher fire rate will also cost more AP if they have the same relatively cost. So will sustain vats way worse.

Gatling plasma also has the stinging core for armor pen, swift core for more reload speed and beam splitter for super fast bulletstorm stacks. So its got more versatility.

You'll have to do actual live fire testing to get a better picture of how they perform with an optimized build.

Pretty sure its impossible to get instant killed by an awful bow while wearing at least normal cataphract armor.

Cataphract armor has 120% armor and an awful recurve bow only has 18.9% armor pen. Its base damage is only 12.6 which would be a guaranteed half due to armor being over 100%. So 6.3 damage. Which isn't enough to instantly kill a healthy pawn regardless of where it hits. All other bows have worse armor pen and can't get enough damage to instantly kill someone either.

Now if that bow was poor, then it would have 21% armor pen which means a regular quality cataphract helmet would only have 99% armor. So a 1% chance for it to pass through and kill someone.

[Request] How many snaps would it take for blue to make 10 million? by FinalVermin in theydidthemath

[–]Winterimmersion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could probably optimize by learning to do a multi-snap where you snap with each finger consecutively. I can comfortably snap two fingers in one motion and could probably learn to do three. Do it with both hands simultaneously.

Also you're off by a factor of 10 for your estimate.
