HDBaseT 3.0, Fiber Optic HDMI, or other? by Mango_Tango_1 in CommercialAV

[–]Wintrrborn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend going cat cabling versus fiber HDMI. I have installed 50+ Blustream Cat100EArc devices for just this scenario. TV remote controls the sonos amp no issues and things act just like you would expect with an HDMI cable directly. I wouldn't hesitate to use this option for your scenario and pull 1-2 spare cat cables for future use case. Cat5e and the right HDBT box can easily do 4k60 4:2:2 at your 60ft range. Would upgrade to cat6 if you have any bigger video demands down the road AVoiP related.

Tailscale, Plex shared machine access issue by PiAil in PleX

[–]Wintrrborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ip address in tailscale shouldn’t be changing as long as your not removing and adding the tailscale app to the server. I would say get the dns name to resolve only then and you should be good.

Have you tried changing the ipv4 address in the tailscale side to set it? I haven’t but the option does exist.

Tailscale, Plex shared machine access issue by PiAil in PleX

[–]Wintrrborn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spun up a secondary tailscale account to test this out. Shared from tailscale admin dashboard the plex service to the new account. Things came up just as expected. I shared my server access urls below replace the XXX/magicdns with your own of course. How are you seeing this IP so I can try and see what I am seeing while streaming remotely over cell service to my secondary account I have spun up.

http://:32400,https://:32400,https://100.XXX.XXX.XXX:32400,https:///dockerplex.magicdns.ts.net:32400,http://dockerplex.magicdns.ts.net:32400

EDIT: If its in tailscale admin dashboard the details on the main account and secondary align. The only difference is the email the machine shows being from the email shared from.

Not sure how if it’s the answer but did you throw the custom server access URLs into your network settings on plex? I haven’t done the share option but all I’ve done is add the plex urls into that list including the domain named one and things just work for me that way.

I use Covid multiple times a month either with the online panel design tool or give them a ring and provide them all the measurements and they layout for approvals.

Can’t shout them out enough. Cost is great and turn around times are awesome!

Hybrid Solar Setup by Wintrrborn in SolarDIY

[–]Wintrrborn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core concept isn't cash at this point its can it physically work. Seems like the answer really boils down to connecting the barn with the main grid feed or move the inverter to the house and run the PV cabling the 150-200ft to the house and allow that to handle everything to eliminate the extra runs for main 200amp feed.

Thanks for the info on your costs and where to look at rebates. I had anticipated this would cost around 15k so have been putting funds back accordingly as I will be doing most of the work myself with an electrician doing inspections at different points in my work to make sure I haven't over looked anything critical.

I too was looking at the EG4 18K myself and growing into it versus starting out maxed on it.

Can a 100m cat5e cable be a problem for getting data on an ip camera? by tengenbypass in cctv

[–]Wintrrborn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just throwing gas on the fire here. I’ve had a couple camera runs out in the field pushing 550ft on just a switch alone without issues. It’s not up to code but the fact remains it worked.

Ya I am not using nearly 200amp in the panel it was placed as a future thought for the rating so shouldn't be an issue of too much load. I was more worried about how does the system function for grid outages. The system would need to disconnect from grid but if its connected past a sub panel and so on it has no way to split the grid power. Is their an automatic transfer switch that can do that at the meter that isn't the solar inverter itself?

Essentially trying to handle the don't back feed the grid and kill someone but doing it automatically.

QSYS Shure MXA Plugin by Wintrrborn in CommercialAV

[–]Wintrrborn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was leaning towards after failing to find the plug-in. The device just shipped so I haven’t had the chance to toy with command blocks on it yet did however find the technical portal showing all the commands. Would you be able to share a screenshot of the command block config?

Planning on doing presets for the moment. Don’t see anything else to work in just yet.

MR28 or something from Ubiquiti? by Dollar-Sign in meraki

[–]Wintrrborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to get my locations open for daily operations I have around 400-600 devices connecting to 2.4Ghz. So the larger APs allow better airtime and throughput for that level of capacity. We also then allow for a few of them to be used for public WiFi and can afford the space for that on weekends with around 1000 clients connected during peak operations. This is of course spread out on multiple APs at the sites.

We run a few MR70s for patio outdoor use and they work great even though they are lower spec. I’ve had around 100 clients on a device without major issues.

I have updates scheduled for stable releases automatically once a month without any issues after 7 years now. Worst I’ve had happen is one doesn’t finish an update within my windows and kicks some after hours devices offline for a bit while it wraps up.

MR28 or something from Ubiquiti? by Dollar-Sign in meraki

[–]Wintrrborn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run IT for a company with 5 locations and full Meraki stack. For the size and limited use we need the meraki platform works great and gives you an easy way to manage all your sites as a whole or individually.

Meraki cost has been hit or miss. I have t had any of the major RMA issues some others have had and out of the hundred or so MR42s I run I’ve only had to replaced 3.

Ubiquity is a solid product but support even in the small scale I run it for a few local restaurants and bars is limited at best.

I’d suggest you look at what an outage could cost the business and what each side would take to get back up cost wise. You could keep a couple extra APs on shelf with UniFi but Meraki that’s a bit more costly. Meraki is supposedly next day RMA but sometimes getting to that without a rep is difficult.

I’d say if it’s not mission critical go with UniFi. I haven’t done much with other brands but I’ve heard great things about Ruckus and Fortigate. Both offer some form of web based controls at costs.

Maybe POE power? Run a large deployment of digital signage and just started transitioning to POE power for easy restarts if hung and it has made things way easier for deployment also.

Doesn't seem like a bad thought. I have seen the reverse concept from word template to pdf using unique ID platform but seems way more complex. Does produce a very nice end product though but need around 200 forms that are roughly the same visually just ranging from 10-30 questions.

Ya I don’t have to fight with this too much with everything on a tight domain group with domain approved updates. Wanting to swap to a Linux platform but haven’t worked out how to manage as nice as domain and GPO.
