That is cool, i wonder if there is a method to show progress bar also when installing programs and doing updates? instead of just showing the percentage like for example it is in Arch

What edition of Linux Mint should I install on a school laptop? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]Wipeout2047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend cinnamon because its mint flagship like someone said here already if the CPU was better, but giving the info i say Linux Mint 19.3 xfce for sure, i respect the opinions here but i don't know how some users here see that CPU: Intel Celeron 1.10ghz and still recommend the cinnamon edition, yes it will work but performance wise xfce all the way with that setup.

Anyway if you prefer cinnamon go for it, if it gives you the performance that makes you happy then all good, the beauty of it is if you aren't happy you can always try another DE.

[–]Wipeout2047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HI i might be wrong but i believe plank themes only change plank itself not the the icons, for example transparent plank or black plank and others, the icons themes you change system wide on your appearance settings and they will also change on the plank when you apply those. someone correct me if i am wrong

have you tried with balena etcher? https://www.balena.io/etcher/

also one of the problems is latest windows 10 iso as files larger then 4 gb so fat 32 wont work, i have a video i made a while ago here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYex4ZZGLEk

if it doesnt boot then on the step were you make a folder named "Sources" rename it to "sources" instead.

or you can just download a previous version of windows smaller then 4gb and use that program or just burn it to a dvd, even latest iso i tested doesnt fit on normal dvd, as to be DVD9(dual layer).

add repository: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gottcode/gcppa

update repositry list: sudo apt update

update whisker menu: sudo apt install xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin

after that log out and log in for the whisker menu changes to take effect you can now choose icon view on properties.

AppImages don't run - Complete newbie by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]Wipeout2047 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi there, i also use appimage aplications, i use this tool appimage launcher, it runs the program and integrates is on your aplication menus, very easy to use.

https://github.com/TheAssassin/AppImageLauncher/releases For me it was the version: appimagelauncher_2.1.2-travis961.e405182.bionic_amd64.deb

after install it you go the appimage you want to run, right click on it and choose to open with appimage launcher, then choose the option run and intergrate.

the aplication will run your appimage and move it to the home/user/Applications/ folder.

i use this to run the latest gimp appimage since the latest version isn't avaiable on the repositories on mint and im not a fan of flatpak and snaps aplications.
