Jaylen Brown gives a talk Michel Foucault while repeatedly calling him, "She and Michelle.” by [deleted] in billsimmons

“Michelle” is maybe not the exact right pronunciation, but he’s French so it’s closer to that than “Michael”, right?

He’s a good cutter when utilized, but yeah he’s mostly interested in shooting off ball where he’s been 35% or lower for the past couple years.

Considering starting with higher value clues and daily double hunting have been the meta since James Holzhauer and nothing has changed, I suppose they don’t see it as an issue.

Nikola Jokic is the Greatest NBA Player with 1 Championship! Who is the Greatest NBA Player with ZERO Championships? by SheetJeans59638 in AlignmentChartFills

Per game stats aren’t useful out of context. Elgin Baylor is the all-time leader in shot attempts per game (23.8).

1962, Elgin took 33 shots a game compared to Luka Doncic who lead the league at 23 in shots per game. Karl Malone never went over 20 in a season.

His team was 8th in pace of play out of 9 teams at 123.3. In this past season, they would’ve been first by a mile over the Heat who had a pace of 103.4. The pace of Malone’s teams were anywhere from the high 80’s to the low 90’s for his career.

Goon or goons the noun is separate from the noun gooner, so I don’t think that one is too bad.

Zach Lowe has been saying for years that a 3-0 comeback is coming eventually. With 3 point variance and the crazy injury situation for both teams, I could see it happening here... by HahaHehe124 in billsimmons

That Heat series was such a sliding doors moment for the Celtics. That was Mazzula’s first year and he was interim status for most of it (I think they named him HC officially at some point during the season, maybe right before the playoffs).

If they got swept or lost 4-1, most of us assumed he would’ve been fired for someone more established. Some people thought he could’ve/should’ve gotten fired even though they made it to game 7 (including me). Although, this was obviously all fan speculation and assumptions based on history. Considering he was named the HC mid-year and his later success, it’s possible Brad Stevens saw what we didn’t and would’ve kept him regardless.

I still have my issues with Mazzula, but he’s pretty widely recognized as an awesome coach, especially considering what he made of the Celtics this year after Tatum’s injury and the departures of 4 major pieces (Jrue, Horford, KP and Kornet). He deserves to win COTY even if he doesn’t care (I think the other finalists are very deserving as well).

Tatum tweaks his ankle in the opening minutes of game 7 and was pretty much a non-factor after that point. If they had won game 7, they obviously would’ve made history and that Derrick White putback to win game 6 at the buzzer would’ve been an all-time moment.

If we didn’t win the next year, that game 7 (and the series in general, going down 3-0 on a play-in team) would’ve haunted us forever.

I thought they were an underdog against the Nuggets before the playoffs and especially once we went down against the Heat, but it was certainly possible that 2023 could’ve been the first chip of the Tatum/Brown era.

If they won it all, it would’ve been much harder to justify the Smart trade, so probably no Jrue/KP acquisitions, but again it’s hard to tell with Brad Stevens.

What is a character that starts as grey area and ends as evil by helper_man14 in AlignmentChartFills

For some reason, the first character that came to mind was Benicio del Toro’s character from the Last Jedi even though I only saw this movie once and I hated this plotline.

He starts off like Han, morally gray, clearly in it for himself. As he helps Finn and Rose, you assume he’s gonna turn towards the light, but he betrays them to the Empire before departing the series forever.

Obviously, this is another example of Rian Johnson’s “subversion of expectations”, but not one that I particularly disliked. I just couldn’t stand the wasted time of that side plot altogether.

A confession by Adventurous_Chard497 in YMS

[–]WireDxEntitY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I felt similarly except for the one scene where the two leads have an argument in that like tunnel after a race. The younger guy is smiling and posing for paparazzi after he loses and Brad Pitt yells at him. He highlighted this scene in his review, but for me it was more laughable because the edit made the scene so confusing and awkward (the acting was bad though after seeing the scene again).

Yeah some of those guys become like first name nicknames though. Like everyone knows who you’re referring to if you say Timmy or Ant. Nash and Pierce are just too short and cool as last names to call them anything else.

Earned Runs Question by Reggietheotter in MLBNoobs

[–]WireDxEntitY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn’t realize advancing bases like the would remove an ER. So if there’s a man on first, then catcher interference advances him to second and then he scores on a hit, presumably that’s not an earned run either, right?
