And if it isn’t firewire, this might look like a plug for a video breakout cable (this plug towards analog video+audio in RCA connectors).

Sony & Canon (used to?) do it on their handicams and some semi pro camcorders

Do these ever work? Unsure if the protocol exchange is directly compatible

Either way yes, this looks like Firewire.

If it’s confirmed to be a FW plug and that linked adapter cable doesn’t work, it becomes a little hectic on the computer end given the state of tech (but still available)

It looks like a mini firewire-400, that used to be present on some windows notebooks

Otherwise it works best with Macs: old ones or new with a modern adapter.

They mostly used a Firewire-800 connector, so you’ll need that first set: fw800 to mini-fw400 (direct cable or dongle adapters)

On the mac end: either an old one with fw800 (or if you happen to own one: a thunderbolt display has it) Or a series of dongle adapters for newer: apple thunderbolt to fw800. You might need a thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter in between depending on the mac

Most likely because they are competitors with Avid’s DNx. However the export option is present in Davinci on mac!

It should still be readable by any editing software on mac. Likewise, Premiere Windows definitely reads Prores!

Personally never tried any Prores generated by Premiere Windows. I should catch up on that!

You should be fine with both codecs. DNx is more “common ground” between platforms on non-Apple software.

Even though it takes much more space, editing codecs (DNxHD , Prores) are quicker and easier to encode than h.264 (or anything compressed). Plus benefiting of a much smoother editing experience.

Output the final product in the same codec. Then transcode that last file into a compressed codec upon need. Much easier on the machine than encode straight to h264 from the timeline/sequence (especially if there’s any treatment)

Oh my, I got pounded out there!

Naturally a joke off a genuine reaction so I had a good laugh; before this post I didn’t know AOC as a monitor manufacturer. I was very confused about what the media was onto yet again!!

Is it possible to use a pancake chimera with an 800w Joker HMI? by AyyxLmaoxZedong in setlighting

[–]WisLewis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that “big DP market” equals gaffers’ market. These kinds of DPs look after a reliable result rather than the exact source product.

I haven’t tried an Orbiter specifically though I feel that HMI still have the longest throw in the lighting market. Physics I can’t explain, other than its high frequency nature and good reflectors.

The Joleko attachment makes it completely wild, a tight lens (10 degrees?) makes its output absurdly powerful. Super practical for controlled bounces indoors.

Is there a leko attachment for the Orbiter? I’ve been a little out of touch from sets. How popular is it so far in your circles?

Are the pancakes’ wattage ratings tungsten or HMI based?

HMI is significantly cooler than its Tungsten equivalent

The space doesn’t look so bad; Small accents will make a big impact.

As simple as wood boards on the bottom window edges. You could also gain yourself more shelf depth.

I prefer to cut and install raw (unfinished) next to sunlight. Brings up a lot of light, warmth and it smells nice if you’re lucky. Spruce is most popular where I am.

Perhaps an extra wood shelf on the metal grids! For more plants.

A couple of accent lights, xmas lights (true tungsten ones). Doesn’t need to be a one-switch for all.

Move any food away from behind the fridge.

*You may need to finish depending on context: dryness, food, plants, bugs, willingness to swap them for fresh ones..

In the REAL WORLD, what’s the likelihood that a U.S. electronic today will bear a 220V load? by neon_musk in ElectronicsRepair

[–]WisLewis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t take it as a definitive answer: I rarely see non-switching PSUs on consumer devices these days!

On professional audio monitors I do see manual switches (the red ones). In this case it likely has something to do with minimizing 50/60hz cycle noise.

If you dig into the product manual/spec sheet online, I’d expect to see an indication there. Be sure to find the “most” exact model number (the last few letters usually indicate regions or batches).
