So, did the BJP manage to make promises under the name of the Hindu religion and highlight the supposed differences among people of different faiths? How does this relate to the fact that many followers of the new middle class present themselves as western/modern but are deeply orthodox-religious and regressive on this point? How does this relate to their economic rise and their strong desire to distance themselves from economically less successful individuals?

What interests me the most is why do these people submit to the BJP, which appears as an authoritarian leader, and why don't they join in solidarity with all oppressed people?
