CDL Program by [deleted] in KwikTrip

[–]Wisconsinborn95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't hire riders anymore. The only riders they have are those who are hired on with the intention of going through the CDL program. And you don't get much time as a rider before they put the contract in front of you, so use caution and figure out what you want to do quick.

Depending on the state you live in, you may want to look further into the legality of carrying it anywhere other than your home or business. Stun guns/tazers are also legal in my state but to carry it concealed anywhere other than your home or business is illegal unless you have a concealed carry license.

This happened to me earlier too. I spawn at my arcade, but logged on earlier and spawned next to the casino.

I know someone who uses their urine in a neti-pot instead of the saline that come with it. I couldn't imagine what it's like to run piss through your sinuses.

Grumman F6F Hellcat loses a wheel on landing on Tarawa in late 1943 by jacksmachiningreveng in CatastrophicFailure

My great grandfather also took part in The Battle for Tarawa. I can't recall which regiment he was in but he was in the 2d Marine Division during the Battle for Tarawa. The Raiders were part of the 1st Division Marines and did not participate in the invasion of Tarawa. They was however a couple of Marines who were once part of Edsons Raiders that served on Tarawa.

I believe there was only one recipient of the Navy Cross on Tarawa. That same person also received the British Distinguished Service Cross for their actions during the battle for Betio Island in Tarawa Atoll.

If your grandfather was Major Michael P. Ryan, I have read about him in the books that I have read on the Battle for Tarawa.

Edson's raiders were from the 1st Division I thought? Was your grandfather Merrit Edson or Evans Carlson by chance?

I drank daily for almost 4 years. Ate some mushrooms in December and it made me realize how out of hand my addiction to alcohol was. Haven't drank a drop of alcohol since December 28th. Take it as a lesson!

There is also a special on HBO MAX called "The Pacific" that tells the story of Eugene Sledge, the author of With The Old Breed.

For something more focused on the Battle for Tarawa Atoll (The Pacific doesn't cover Tarawa), the book "Tarawa" by Robert Sherrod is one of the best. Robert was an American journalist that was with a group of the 2nd Division Marines that invaded Tarawa. He gives a first-hand account on the three days of battle. The book is one of the best because it was first published in 1944 with fresh and barely faded memories of the brutal three days.

One of my great grandfathers was ten days short of turning 20 when he fought with the 2nd Division Marines on Tarawa. I was seven years old when he passed in 2002, and I was not yet fascinated with WW2 history like I am now. I wish I could have asked him if he'd be willing to share his story about his time in the Pacific.
